I don't think it would be a stretch to say he's been the most defensively consistent player we've seen since Kenny Jonsson. I still say it was his injury that led to their regular season slide - keaner17
100% he is so good at calming the oppositions forecheck and getting the puck out.
Dare I say Dennis Potvin? The smart outlet pass and d side of the game? Certainly not offensively. But his D adds to our defense so much. |

Good comparison. I think of Pelech like the Isles Rod Langway. - ses111
I think of Leo Komarov as the participation winner |

If he had average offensive skills he'd be a true #1 |

Yeah Denny was one of the best and certainly had an offensive game to match the defense but Pelly in the D zone and his gap play in the neutral zone is just so (frank)ing good. Maybe as good as Denny. |

Dave was a bit sluggish compared to Pelly in my opinion which is why they paired him with Persson kinda like JB and Leddy. |

Reminds me of a young Dean Chynoweth. |

Both very strong defensive dmen and not much offense. Both around the same size Bam Bam was an even bigger hitter. |

The entire NHL in the 80s was a bit sluggish by today's standards. |
