We've been outshot every game except for two since this thing started. I'd say the chances we let Markstrom walk are minimal. Even then, we'd still pay a handsome price for another goalie.

The highlighted part should read games not seasons

Didn't Schneider have a couple of years where he was a top goalie in New Jersey? At first the decline was slight, then he hasn't won a game since or something.

That's brutal. - Marwood
There just aren't that many goalies that have won a playoff series for the Canucks. Markstrom just won *2 in a year which only 3 other goalies have done.

So ring of honor or should we just retire his number?

Yes. Gillis got below market value in both trades(as in at the time, the return wasn’t great), Markstrom and Bo panned out very well though. But pretending Gillis didn’t completely bungle that situation is a joke and a half. Selective memories! I guess people forget how poorly managed that was.
The cereal? I mean, as a kid, that was probably my second favorite, but “win one for the popper” isn’t a phrase I thought I would ever hear - 1970vintage

Ya, both those trades were total disasters.
Too bad the players they got in return don't play anymore.

It was an awesome trade at the time. Not many goalies have been traded for top 10 picks, especially ones that have never started even half a season.
I like Horvat as a player since day 1, solid pick. I thought it was a great trade at the time and haven't really looked back at it much, even when Schneider was playing well.
Considering Lu's recapture penalty is hitting us currently and he's retired says much about his perceived trade value at the time.
