It was an awesome trade at the time. Not many goalies have been traded for top 10 picks, especially ones that have never started even half a season.
I like Horvat as a player since day 1, solid pick. I thought it was a great trade at the time and haven't really looked back at it much, even when Schneider was playing well.
Considering Lu's recapture penalty is hitting us currently and he's retired says much about his perceived trade value at the time. - golfingsince
Guess we will have to agree to disagree, as one poster said it could have easily been a dud pick which is why you see more than one pick/prospect move for a player. Anaheim got a 1st and 2nd for Andersson who i think had less value than Schnieds. But the 1st was 30th not 9th. Anyway, i also like Bo and just think back on being excited we got him but thinking it wasn’t enough value at the time.
I didn’t watch all of it, but I’m not sure if it was making fun of or in support of JB.
I can’t really get into the song remixes of political speeches. NFL bad lip reading? Could watch that all day! - 1970vintage
I guess so, seems like something making fun of a specific politician is fairly political. I really don’t pay enough attention to American politics as I do Canadian, as I do not live there.
Didn't Schneider have a couple of years where he was a top goalie in New Jersey? At first the decline was slight, then he hasn't won a game since or something. - golfingsince

We, as Canadians, don’t generally pay enough attention to American politics. It’s hard when the American virus is running the show though.
Yes. Gillis got below market value in both trades(as in at the time, the return wasn’t great), Markstrom and Bo panned out very well though. But pretending Gillis didn’t completely bungle that situation is a joke and a half. Selective memories! I guess people forget how poorly managed that was. - neem55
100%. The whole drama was also a huge distraction at a time when they were still at least considered contenders. In the end the returns were more than good, but that wasn’t a guarantee at the time. Markstrom was on waivers not that long ago.

I don’t think that’s true at all, most people i know/talk more about American politics than Canadian.
