Kinda BS they have to play back to back in a game seven, Demko better get fully hydrated as he was spent at the end of that game last night.
- Pacificgem

VGK also have to play the back to backs. I think it kinda works in our favour. VGK must still be feeling the sting of two losses in a row, weight of expectation, and are looking a little tired themselves.

I always looked at the signing as a three year project. His fourth year was a signing bonus. I know some don't like him and that is fine.
- VANTEL

that's fair. one thing you and i both agree on (and neither of us is saying with certainty) but this offseason could see a lot of movement.

either way, we're going to see what happens and how jb maneuvers with a flat cap.

i've always been of the opinion that the cap matters more and more as you get closer to the cup.

these overpaid contracts will really make a difference going forward.

i said it before (when i thought they would lose in the playoffs) that we shouldn't judge the team based on this anomalous post-season. they are going to be a contender. these playoffs don't show that they are already there. we should have fun watching these games and dare to dream they can finish the job.... but let's maintain some perspective.

They are overpaid in your opinion and others. I am sure if you asked Benning if he was disappointed in the Beagle signing he would laugh in the face of the person asking the question and point out we just took out the SC winners of last year and playing game 7 tonight against the cup favorites.

How much you wanna bet that the Reilly comment about “step on their throats” was hanging in the Canucks locker room

Vegas looked defeated last night, hopefully our boys can keep it rolling. Vegas has clearly been the better team, much like the Islanders vs Flyers series, but we’ve found a way to tie it up.

those guys expected a cake walk. that was their mindset going into the series.

you're right that they are feeling the "weight of expectation." i think it's 50-50 or maybe even slightly in the canucks favour.

the canucks are feeling like they can and will win. VGK feel like they "should" win.

and i'm sure that others including many GMs would laugh in his face at many of his player personnel moves.

recency bias meaning what just happened doesn't justify years of play.

As you all know about my feelings about the cap, I still stand firm. We will have all of our players that are important under contract.

I know the general fanbase thinks that Sutter and or Beagle will be moved but I don't .. I say Roussel Sven will be moved.

As far as Marky and Toffoli signings go Marky had the worse case scenario happen . He was once again injured with the same re-occurring groin issue and Canucks found out that Demko finally can handle big games.

Toffoli has been pretty quiet the last two games but I still want him back.

100%

I’ve always been a fan of teams with swagger, but VGK are a bunch of smug (frank)ers. San Jose media and fans have been saying the same. Didn’t understand it until now.

One of them has to go, not sure which one I prefer but you absolutely don’t need both of them. Sutter probably has more value but is slow as (frank), although so is Beagle. Both good on the dot and both good on the PK but you need someone who can provide timely offence on occasion.

and that's my underlying point. the closer you get to the cup, the more every player is important. a contending team can't have the inconsistent or invisible play of these overpaid players.

Agree. And that’s what impressed me about TG’s attitude during the pressers. Showing confidence in the team’s abilities but modest about who they are and where they are at in their growth. Kudos to him.

Again Benning would laugh, as his team competes in game seven and they sit and watch us compete.

It can be viewed upon as recency bias and some of us will view it as improving at least 3 spots every year.

I know some will laugh but when we returned to play I thought going in Canucks had one of the most complete forward assembly in the entire league . I had a lot of concerns about the D.

You know you also thought they could do it because you had predicted them as your darkhorse favorites.

Green is lucky to even be having press conferences, the Canucks are getting badly outplayed, relying so heavily on your goaltending is not a recipe for success, Demko looked like he hurt himself a few times last night trying to make desperation saves. I just hope they can pull one more off against these pr!cks.

We have different opinions on if they both stay or not. I don't think Gaudette is 100% ready yet and I think both will be here one more year. That gives them 5 centers . Gauds will develop and Sutter will play on the wing until an injury occurs or Gauds slumps and Sutter gives him a break.

The Canucks had the WORST bottom six in the entire league last season at 5vs5 goal differential, here’s what Drance said about them after the play-in vs Minnesota.

There’s a considerable cap allocations issue, considerable roster construction issue among the Canucks’ bottom-six forward group. They were the worst bottom-six forward group in the league last season. They improved a bit this season but were well below average in terms of goal differential.”

If you think they’re good you have a different understanding of how the game is played than pretty much everyone else.

though some would have you believe i'm a hater, i'm more homer than hater so i always think they might do it.

also, i thought a team with young superstars and good team skating could do well in a short tournament after having 3 months off. however, i'm still surprised at how they're doing it. very, very impressive.

one reason i'm cautious: young teams show sparks like this and then take a step back. that's what i'm concerned about that when everyone thinks that they are cup contenders, a step back seems like the end of the world.

another poster said it yesterday (jakuzzi?) but one step back and then two steps forward. kind of like the avalanche.

We finished 9 th from the bottom last year and are one of 7 remaining teams still playing for the cup today. We are pretty close to the cup with what some call an undesirable roster.

Don't get me wrong I say Beagle and Sutter both only have one year left here as a Canuck in a year that might not even get off the ground.

I’m not trying to be a downer, I’m having fun with this, but let’s be honest, if the season had continued we probably don’t make the playoffs with Markstrom being hurt and Demko being pretty average when he was in.

This is a ‘one-off’ year with the pandemic, let’s not use it for the basis of much considering how badly we’ve been outplayed.

The Leafs took a step back this year and as much as I like to razz them they a hell of an exciting team. They will bounce back this year.

So it could happen to the Canucks that next year is a misstep but I think over the next 5 years overall it is going to be a lot of fun.

I honestly don't think you are a Canuck hater at all. I think you have very strong feelings about things and players but never once would I put you in the category of hoping they would lose so you could say I told you so,
