cheers up fellas

massive game 7 tonight

win or lose, this team has been absolutely fantastic to watch

- Codes1087

All I've been saying to people this whole run(especially the Leafs fans I work with) is that I'm just happy to be able to watch my team play, period. The Covid break was long and it's be very cathartic to see the Nucks play this many games.

I still think JT Miller has been an incredible pickup. Guy is such a leader and comes to play. That first round pick was worth it!
- deuce22

That 1st rounder has such a small chance of being even half as much of an impact as JTM has been for us. And with no NTC in place, we can easily recoup the assets at a future date if we have a down year in in the last of his contract.

I’m not trying to be a downer, I’m having fun with this, but let’s be honest, if the season had continued we probably don’t make the playoffs with Markstrom being hurt and Demko being pretty average when he was in.

This is a ‘one-off’ year with the pandemic, let’s not use it for the basis of much considering how badly we’ve been outplayed.

- Pacificgem

That is speculation. They won their last game and recalled Boeser . They were one point out with thirteen games left.

I believe Boeser was ready earlier but Benning kept him on LTIR to bring in Toffoli.

beagle has sucked. c'mon. seriously. the team is winning but that doesn't mean that we have to be blind to what we see.

just look at vegas' first goal in game 5. he was stick checking like an 8 year old and that directly led to the goal.

Post mortem on a win. Enjoy

Agreed he is past his due date but if he is part of the reason the young guys on the team believe then I can’t complain...hopefully that $12M pays unmeasurable dividends in the future.

So true but the Benning bashers won’t admit it. Gotta be perfect as a GM in Van.

sure but that doesn't mean that he's useful going forward as this team really becomes good or that his contract is any good. all i'm saying is that we should maintain some perspective. the world's not ending when they lose and they didn't win the stanley cup last night.

just like saying there are no cap issues in the middle of the playoffs is... well... irrelevant.

- RealityChecker

Doesn’t mean he isn’t useful either.

What cap issues?

Where those Demko haters at? Wanted to trade the kid after his first season in the nhl was so-so certainty proving you wrong now!

and i'm sure that others including many GMs would laugh in his face at many of his player personnel moves.

recency bias meaning what just happened doesn't justify years of play.

- RealityChecker

and I’m sure that any true fan wouldn’t care one shlt about what anyone says who’s in golfing mode & watching the PO’s.

If Miller gets a serious injury and that player is as good as Horvat, posters on here will cry about it. Hindsight is 20/20

what's a true fan? since you're implying i'm not one, i'd love to know what one is. it's the only way i'll learn.

The thing is though, if that kid ends up as good as Horvat, it will be 5 years from now after JTM is no longer a Canuck(I think he will price himself out of resigning with us). We will have Podk making an impact, same with Hogger. I doubt people will even remember the kid who was drafted with our 1st, unless he becomes and impact within 2 years of being drafted.

Someone who always cheers for their team to win. Who believes every player, coach, manager is doing great. Who turns on others who are critical of anything. True fans are like authorities in Xinjiang.

though some would have you believe i'm a hater, i'm more homer than hater so i always think they might do it.

also, i thought a team with young superstars and good team skating could do well in a short tournament after having 3 months off. however, i'm still surprised at how they're doing it. very, very impressive.

one reason i'm cautious: young teams show sparks like this and then take a step back. that's what i'm concerned about that when everyone thinks that they are cup contenders, a step back seems like the end of the world.

another poster said it yesterday (jakuzzi?) but one step back and then two steps forward. kind of like the avalanche.

twas i 🙋‍♂️

i think theyll regress and emerge as a true contender when the rest of the roster and depth fills out. beagle sutter loui rousell all gone and replaced with whatever develops next. like lind gaudette and whatever other prospect benefits from another year

We would have been selecting at the highest 24 th . What if he turns out like Shinkaruk . You can play the what if game on both sides of the coin.

i agree. it's how jb rounds out the roster that will make all the difference.

he's brought in a very good and exciting core. the next step is to surround them with the depth to go deep into the playoffs for the next several years.
