They were 18th overall in league standings when the season was shutdown, there’s a lot of fixin that would need to be done in the bottom six and on defence for them to climb into the top ten next season.
Because of their messy cap situation I just don’t see that being a possibility, but stranger things have happened. - Pacificgem

They will have to give up some assets or max out on contract buyouts to get get out of this messy situation.
The team needs an upgrade at 3C and a physical defenseman or they can try o ride it out with this group,
Jake will be a casualty of any cap dump imo - Reubenkincade

Oh I think it can be done, but it’s going to take someone more intelligent than Jim Benning to figure it out. Toffoli’s been a huge help in the playoffs since coming back but I honestly don’t want them to re-sign him. I think Benning needs enough foresight to give a winger already in the organization, whomever that may be, a shot in the top six. They’ve gotta earn it, but they need opportunity. |

That too.
He has been a big disappointment.i thought playoffs would be a coming out of sorts for him, other than the 1 game, he has been invisible. |

Word is he’s already requested a trade, I think you’ll see him packed and sent outta town. Good riddance. |

If Jake had a good playoff Canucks would do everything to sign him . He has been bumped continuously throughout the year and playoffs. He has been bumped by Roussel Leivo Zack Loui Motte even though he eventually ends back up in the line up .
Pile that on with the number of off ice issues it makes it easy to move on from him despite his 18 goals.

Other than Gaudette the Canucks bottom six is an offensive blackhole, there needs to be massive changes there for the team to take a step forward next season. |

For a 6th overall pick he’s been a MASSIVE disappointment, but it’s time to cut your loses and move on from him imo. |

I think this year you will see at least 2 changes on the bottom 6
I think Leivo coming back will be one of the changes.

Yeah he is a flake. Too bad because the city was pulling for him to be the guy we hoped for.

Dave Semenko has three, and both of them were/are poop players, but they served a purpose. |

Gaudette does provide some offense in the bottom 6 but not much else.
I expect Kole Lind to be given every opportunity to be the 7th forward that can move up and down the lineup.
He provides a bit of nastiness and has skill. |

Unfortunately there’s tie-breakers though, so 18th. All of these teams had either 77-78-79 points...all really close. Only Minnesota isn’t a young improving team, they’re old and declining.
Rangers
Flames
Canucks
Predators
Wild - Pacificgem
If you're splitting hairs actually 17th: https://www.nhl.com/standings/2019/league
They're .001 better than the Rags and the Flames.
Flames aren't young and improving, lots of talk about resetting on their side. Preds aren't young and improving either. Only the Rangers, and they're no sure bet. |

Yeah he had a good training camp at the return to play and I think he is going to replace Roussel. I watched him quite a bit on the Comets this year and man does he annoy other teams and he has some very nice passing skills. He also played a few games at center. |

The problem is, what if the winger in the organization isn't ready for a top 6 role? Then you've sort of shot yourself in the foot for another year when your team should be pushing the issue.
Ideally, they could sign TT to a 3 year deal. I know that's not likely from his camp, though. That'd give enough time for Hoglander and Podkolzin to come over and push for that spot. |

Makes him a perfect fit. Having a player that is skilled, an agitator and versatile makes a perfect 7th forward. |

If TT does want long term and big money I would look at trading for Perron. He had 25 G and 60 Pts and even today Blues are reported to be looking to clear more space for Pietrangelo. Perron has 2 years left at 4 M per. |

I did not watch him at first because of his previous year stats but as the year went on you couldn't help not noticing him. It was a good selection . I think if he continues his path he will be a Canuck soon.

As was mentioned earlier, Leivo would have to fill that top 6 role, until someone else comes along.
I think most of us would like o re-sign Toffolu, but ar well aware of the financial situation. |

imo canucks are prone for a one step back next before taking 2 steps forward. barring a shuffle i think we all agree canucks will get 2 of toffoli/tanev/markstrom and all 3 expose the lack of depth at the top end of each grouping |
