If you're splitting hairs actually 17th: https://www.nhl.com/standings/2019/league
They're .001 better than the Rags and the Flames.
Flames aren't young and improving, lots of talk about resetting on their side. Preds aren't young and improving either. Only the Rangers, and they're no sure bet. - NewYorkNuck
Any way you slice it they’re packed with a group of teams that any one of them could have a few more wins or a few more loses, it’s certainly not as easy as some make it sound. At the end of the day they need better players to expect much better results. |

I did not watch him at first because of his previous year stats but as the year went on you couldn't help not noticing him. It was a good selection . I think if he continues his path he will be a Canuck soon. - VANTEL
Hopefully we see him next season, so the Canucks can decide if he is worth protecting for the expansion draft.
Would hate to lose a player that is youngan might be a future contributor to this team. |

If TT does want long term and big money I would look at trading for Perron. He had 25 G and 60 Pts and even today Blues are reported to be looking to clear more space for Pietrangelo. Perron has 2 years left at 4 M per. - VANTEL
hes really effective now but i dont think hes a good fit for van. hes sturdy and smart but imo too slow and only getting older |

He is getting older for sure but I think he has two good years left in him and that's all we really need. |

Would be great as a FA, but trading for him doesn't seem like it would be ideal. |

Unless it was for Beagle or Sutter |

It depends . They want to clear salary so if it for Rafferty and another B prospect . I know many here are against moving picks but I have zero faith in the 2021 draft because of the situation.

if they are trading i think i would rather look at what assets it would cost to get saad for 1 year than perron for 2. ive got a bad feeling perron will not perform well the next couple years |

Assumed as much. If he's sitting in the press box and not the bench, it's not a small thing.
Demko wins the Conn Smythe |

Unfortunate for Markstrom but isn't that the third groin issue he has had? Something to take very serious in contract talks |

Krug on taking a one-year deal: “I’m very opposed to that. I’ve bet on myself and I’ve taken shorter-term deals and less amount of money my whole career now, so this is my time in terms of my value at its peak
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thought you would like this . You have said all along players won't take discounts. |

I think this pandemic is going to create more of a divide between players in contracts. The high end guys (like Krug) will still get money and term, but the middling and lower guys will feel the brunt of it.

He already makes 5.25 I wonder what he is looking for and who is going to pay it?

They will have to give up some assets or max out on contract buyouts to get get out of this messy situation.
The team needs an upgrade at 3C and a physical defenseman or they can try o ride it out with this group,
Jake will be a casualty of any cap dump imo - Reubenkincade
Benning could trade Markstrom before he walks for nothing, definitely trade Jake and let Stecher walk.....so save 6 on Markstrom, 3 on Jake and promote from within on defense. Find a cheap back up goalie and let Demko become the future.
No adding assets or buying out contracts, cap issue solved |

If the Canucks are eliminated in the next couple games, could see people interested in Marky for sure.
However, free agency is set to be around October 9, so how desperate would teams be to trade for him before then? Unless they're signing him to an 8 year deal, what's the point in giving up assets? |

Ottawa sure needs a goalie . Marky could reunite with Nilsson

Because of the chance that Benning locks him up, it’s a strategic negotiation, I would assume there would be interest in Markstrom. Any GM that thinks it’s a good strategy to sit on their heels hoping and praying Markstrom walks wouldn’t last as a GM long.
Edit: And not just Markstrom, unless a UFA is requesting an inflated salary how often do they just walk away, read that as a talented UFA, nobody wanted Hamhuis. |
