Dubas made some huge mistakes based on his love for analytics. What he didn’t measure was heart, grit and unselfishness
I have lost a lot of my love for the leafs just based on how this dumbass can stand behind numbers rather than the real factors that makeup a championship team. Sure now it’s the goalies fault. Maybe the GM should call Hutch and get some advice.

If it guarantees the leafs can take Askarov or say someone drops out of the top 10 (which usually happens), I think it's worth it. Lundell or Sanderson, maybe even Rossi depending on if teams are afraid of his height.

I'd rather the leafs be able to get the guy they want that is highest on their list, not someone who happens to fall to them at 15.

i understand.
But everyone and their mom seems to think this a deep draft, why use more assets just to get back to what their draft position should have been?

It was the Habs. Don't think they "set the market". Bergevin has never been accused of being a genius. But then again - when you read the Habs blog a lot of them seem happy - have no issues that their team is spending 15M on G position.

If Andersen gets traded will likely be for a 2nd or part of a package deal.
Or some desperate dumba$$ team actually does give up a first... better not be Bruins (with Rask taking a powder)

- Nasty_Duck

If spending 15M on goaltender doesn't prevent you from making other moves. Who cares?

You're right, I have yet to see any Habs fan having a problem with grabbing Allen for a turd.

How is that trolling? You don't think people here are following ex Leafs... Guy left under a cloud and now he's turned it around.

It's not trolling. Some people are just sensitive about everything.

Montreal apparently had 18m in space for next season which is why they made the move. Still have a lot of space to take on salary if it helps them.

some leafers are very sensitive, cant say anything negative about the leafs even if its true.

But
Lets be honest, it was a backhanded jab, a little passive aggressive trolling?

Indeed, a little less than 14M left to sign Domi (who might just get traded), Mete and whatever other move we wanna make.

I agree, looking back in hindsight. It seems like a bad move even if Kadri was being a bonehead on occasion

It seems like montreal has plenty of cash, this gives them options.
Plus its only 1 year.

Even without suspensions, Kadri was playing as a third line centre who was better than that and was being paid more than that. More issue with moving him. Barrie bombed is the problem.

It's 4.5M Habs are unable to spend on improving offense. It's not like the Cap is going up (if we even have a season next year).

But I'm sure it will be a recipe for success ...

Frankly, I'd like to see the Leafs get better. I'm not trying to point people and I've been open about night liking Dubas and some of his moves.

counter point, trading Kadri for a RHD and a 3rd line center replacement was needed.

also, Kadri did get suspended 2 (frank)ing years in a row in the playoffs...I was/am a big Kadri fan, and defended him on the very site for years while fans (probably like yourself) shat on him daily

Habs aren't going for the cup next season, they wanna make the playoffs with a rested Carey Price, the move will help towards that. Also, Allen isn't signed beyond next season when we might need the space.

Or did you think Habs were gonna sign every UFA out there?

Starting to think Montreal made that trade just so the Leafs couldn’t sign Pietrangelo

If Barrie lived up to his reputation different story. But if Dubas is so good with analytics, why'd Barrie bomb? Dubas model for analysing has some serious flaws. So how can you trust his other analytics driven moves.

i love JT.
But how would this team look had they not signed him?
Matthews and Kadri as your 1 -2 centres.
Maybe matthews and marner take a little less per year.
An extra 6m per year for defense.
Dunno.
Interesting though.
Anywho, it is what it is now.
Almost 40m on 4 forwards

My comment was that the guy had 5 game winners. The professional sports writer called out Dubas.

I'm just saying you could get Price more rest for less - especially if this isn't a serious play to do damage in playoffs.
