I like Sandin, Holl. I also like the potential of Lehtonen.

Sandin hasnt really been on our D.
He can stay.
No clue about lehtonen, no one does.

Holl can fack off.

If we stay the same and just add a goalie, I see zero change. I agree Freddie can go, but I’m not in agreement with lots of goals some call soft.
- Garnie

I don't think Dubas goes into next season with either the same.

goaltending get stalked about a lot because its a very easy move to make this offseason. Half the league is available and Freddy's 1M contract brings back more value to the leafs than he is worth to them.

It is an easy move where the Leafs end up with more value. I keep talking about Trochek because I think there is something there.

The D is harder. Parayko. EDM's top 4 D...After that there are some risks...Lots of demand and not much supply.

For Marner. Who else?
- bixll

I dont recall any UFA's that he's overpaid for.
500g's too much for Willie and AM at the time. Not the end of the world.
about 1m too much for marnie. But what can you do.

I never liked the Marner contract.

I don't want to sign him to a bridge either though. much easier to trade a star getting paid 6-7M a year in actual dollars over an RFA needing signing bones and a front loaded deal.

When peopel talk about Dubas they only think about the big 4 RFas. They are not considering Spezza, Muzzin, Kapanen,Kerfoot, Jonsson, ETC.

I dislike the marner deal.
9.5 -.7 was what I was hoping he'd max out at.

I don't like the Kadri trade in hindsight but meh, I like Kerfoot and he still holds value.

It s better to lose a bit on a trade then sign anchor contracts to depth players.

I will cut off my left but if Dubas doesn't ass a significant RH D.

Agreed as well.
He's let in a couple of soft goals for sure. But hasnt been the issue the past couple of playoffs.
But
He also hasnt been able steal playoff games when it counts.
Move him if need be, save money, but the D and team D dont change.
Same results IMO.

Signing those big contracts as young kids can add a lot of pressure too. Puts them right in the spotlight when your already in the spotlight with the leafs.

If he just took a bit of a hometown discount he probably could have played a lot more free.

Marner was over paid by 3 mill JMO... By 6 mill in the playoffs, but I understand they don't get paid for playoffs. I think he owes the Leafs money back.

Are you comparing him to guys who signed 3 years at around 7 million?

Nope, really just comparing him to the salary he demanded and how he played in the playoffs.

Watching these playoffs shows me that lots of goalies let in lots of softies. Freddy's alright ....if he gets traded it's not about his performance it's about that contract (5 m cap hit, 1 m salary). He's an asset.

Dermott too ...he's not great but has time to be better. But, he can't play in the top 4 and will be too expensive for the bottom pair (and is a lefty).

Johnsson and Kerfoot have 3.5 AAV but only earn about 2.6 per over the next 3 years. That's good value I think. Trade one and make room for Robertson.

both johnsson and kerfoot had a decline in ppg last year. not off to a great start there.

muzzin's deal is market.

kapanen had a good contract.
