Did you not read the next sentence!!! He actually wrote Buffy would never do this.
But hey, go back to asking us for Ehlers in exchange for AHL D Ristolainen - Ross77
Listen, I was summoned here by your blogger's terrible trade proposal. Now I'm responding to the continued terrible proposals from the commentariat.

Side question, why doesn’t Reinhardt play center anymore? Was it a fail at the NHL level? Does he get tried there still sometimes but doesn’t look good? I remember him as a center in world juniors and being a decent one. |

It's a constant female dogfest on sabresbuzz about that. The long and the short is this:
The year they drafted eichel, they also traded for ROR. Unfortunately the best wingers at the time were Kane, Gionta, Foligno and... Benoit Pouliot. So either Reinhart would have been 3C or he would have been a winger, which they needed.
They tried reinhart at center for short stretches here and there during injuries. Housley tried him with CJ Smith and Pouliot I think.
Some also say he was never fast enough to be a center.
It just never materialized. Now he's a winger
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

That's great news to hear! Glad you brought it to our attention.
So now by that theory we know that Auston Matthews, Mathew Tkachuk, Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly, Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, etc are available.
Let's get one or two of them! |

Eichel plays where Laine does on the PP, so there is also no fit there. Im not taking Eichel off that spot, and Laine makes his living there.
Maybe Laine could be on PP#2 ? |

Ferguson drafted Temmu, Paddock traded him - Ross77
I think you're half right. Mike Smith was the GM for Winnipeg that drafted Teemu.

I thought the goal was to win the cup not have the best players. Any smart GM should listen to offers for any player, especially on teams that under perform.

Ehlers for Ghostisbehere and a 2nd. Keep Laine. Cap works, Ghost is great offensively with the correct coaching scheme, he’s also a defenseman, and a 2nd rounder is still a great spot to pick up a need wherever you choose
You have experience with Buff. No, Ghost does not have Buff’s size or edge, but I think the Peg just might know how to employ his skills more than most franchises. |

Just sign Laine long term, don't trade him, trading him would be dumb, he's a star in a city that stars don't want to come to, if they trade him they likely lose the trade, it won't be worth it, same goes for Ehlers.
When you get good players, you should keep them.
Also this idea that the Jets can fix holes by creating others is just shortsighted and stupid, so we're going to trade two top 6 wingers for a dman and a 2C, cool so who's that 2C going to have for wingers then? If you're going to tell me Roslo, Harkins, Perreault or Appleton well thanks for the laugh!
Every offseason I just hope Chevy doesn't do anything stupid and this one isn't any different. |

Hey! Ho! How bout no.
Ghost is worth very little now thanks to his usage, but even then I’m not doing it |

How many more years do you think Maurice is the coach? I ask that because the Jets ran one of the worst offences in the NHL with Ehlers last year, trading him for a"loss" won't make much difference to the Jets if Maurice is still around for another few years. |

I'd send Philly a 3rd for Gostisbehere, might throw in another late round pick, that's about it. |

Don't see Maurice going anywhere unfortunately, think the ownership loves him.
Was Ehlers part of the problem with the offense?
His even strength point totals were amongst some of the best players in the league, the Jets offense was carried by their top 5 forwards, I'm amazed at how little mention it gets in Jets circles as to how useless their bottom 6 is. |

No Ehlers wasn't part of the problem. My point to Rexypoo, was that the Jets were running a Detroit bad offence, with Ehlers, I fail to see how "losing" an Ehlers trade would make their offence that much worse as long as Maurice is coach. |

trade Laine to Florida, straight up for Ekblad. |

Yes, of course, you're right. Absolutely!
Perhaps I should have used the term "shocking" instead of "untouchable" if certain players were moved, even on teams who missed/narrowly missed the playoffs.
I would be shocked, because of their skill/age/contract/status - whatever - were moved by the Jets - Connor, Scheifele, Wheeler, Ehlers, Hellebuyck and Morrissey. The rest? |

Fergusson was still GM when he was drafted, it was Fergy's last draft |

If Buffalo were to trade with the Jets I would be more inclined to trade Montour and Asplund for Copp. |

If you are looking for a big-time D that you could trade Laine, how about Eckman-Larsson ? |

our top line put up points, yes, but got out scored by the other teams top line almost every game. the reason so many want more scoring out of our bottom 6 is because if Maurice refuses to break up our top line that's getting killed we need our bottom 6 to make up that difference.
how about we just mix the lines up better to create lines that can both produce offence while playing better defense.
id rather win more games 3-2, then lose more 6-5 but have more guys in the scoring leaders
again, change the dam coach
