Also I read a rumor this morning that the Rangers offered McDonagh and Kreider to Edmonton back in 2016 for the 4th overall pick, did you already mention this? I wonder what prospect they wanted? I am guessing Sergachev. Wonder if they try to make a move for him again this offseason with Tampa’s salary cap issues - TPC
I definitely knew this, no, the guy they wanted wasn't Sergachev, it was Clayton Keller
absolute fact |

just think how things we'd be if we had pulled that trade off, got the #4 overall pick and NOT taken Matthew Tkachuk.
I'd be annoyed if we already gave Clayton Keller 7.15 million a year at this point like Arizona has, I tell you that |

Yea for real, also we most likely don’t end up with Kakko and LAF, it could still be dark times for us.
Also I would have jumped off a bridged most likely trading Kreider at the age of 25 haha |

I am sure the Rangers would still like Keller, especially since Quinn was his college coach
but that contract they gave him, it's absolutely ridiculous
that kid's done nothing in this league to earn that money already, same with Hischier in Jersey |

I don't think our front office would have done that. As much as I'd rather have Tkachuk, gotta admit Keller would look pretty good in our uniform now. Kinda shocked Edmonton didn't take that trade, considering how they normally operate.

Another reason to keep the first pick and take Laf. |

I actually heard Dave Maloney talk about this potential deal and it definitely was very close
I was always saying all those years Edmonton kept picking high one year they need to deal the pick and fill some holes |

Just think about all the ripple effects though if we did that. The most obvious one is that the Arizona trade doesn't happen in all likelihood. We would have cleared out a bunch of space already, and we probably could have kept Stepan. Though you wonder if we would have had a higher pick anyway that draft and still wound up with Lias.
The other one is that having an offense defenseman like Keller already developing, if the team never signs Shatty. 16-17 is a much worse year for sure, and the team wouldn't think it was close anymore. You could argue that they still would have pursued him because the whole NY thing, but at the very least you don't have to buy him out as fast.

Lol coffee hasn't kicked in yet. For some reason I swapped him with Clayton Stoner who also never played for the Yotes.

No worries! Keller is a good player but Mac and Kreider for him would have been rich. If they had wanted to get Tkachuck, different story, Anywho, water under the bridge

this series looks a lot like the Rangers Kings games in the finals, but this time AV's team is scoring the overtime goals instead of giving them up - jimbro83
Gamewise, it's an exact mirror of the 2015 Caps Series. Same coaches. Same late to the game adjustments by AV after being down 3-1. Game 6 was a barn burner. Going to game 7..... |

I'm sure I'll be in the minority side with this but, it seems like everyone is thinking that if the Rangers can get Hank to retire then they can add the 2nd line center and the LD partner for Trouba and compete for the cup next year! I'm sorry but after watching the team vs Carolina, there needs just a little mote seasoning to the young guns. I for one will not be that upset if Hank stays and he and Igor share the net. What makes everyone think Georgiev wants to be a back up? What if he wants the net? Are you going to sit Igor? I dont think so. I think theres plenty that can be done and that would include shopping Georgiev along with the 2nd 1ft round pick and possibly an asset or two to find what were looking for but with Hank still on the team. Maybe a package with Georgiev, the 2nd 1st rnd pick and Brenden Smith. I just dont see the rush and Alexia Lafeinere coming this year, another year to build that dynasty is not that bad. I just dont see Hank leaving $4.25M to retire and I wouldn't be upset with him if he wants to retire a Ranger. After all he's done for this team 1 more year will not hurt anyone!
