I read it as a lighthearted attempt at levity by making a prediction that serves as a "reverse jinx." Nothing to get too hung-up about over. Things could be a lot worse. - Bendecko
No it’s not nuclear detonation...that is true...just a really fcking stupid thing to leave on a fan message board.
No need to defend dumb.
Instead of admitting his stupidity...he doubled down on being a loser.
Don’t need his horse sht.
Already enough Flyer haters in the world...don’t need the weak
self-loathing...
OK that’s enough talking about that loser....
Time to focus...
Let’s roll...
LET’S GO FLYERS !! !!! |

Ruptured spleen, not appendectomy. He played two games with a goddamned ruptured spleen. But then, this is the guy who repeatedly had hit foot broken to try and reset the bones to be able to curing his skating wobble and prolong his career after he had won everything there was to win.
Do you remember Forsberg in those days? We did not see that Forsberg when he came to EC. The man would be possessed during the playoffs. The sheer maniacal ferocity combined with that sublime skill. We saw more of the latter.
I remember when Forsberg was looking around for a new team before he came to us, there was talk of him going to the Wings. Probably would not have gone there anyway, but apparently some of the Wings old guard did not want him to come even with his skill set. Too much bad blood from the battles of the past 10 years. - PT21
Entirely missed my point.
The exact malady...not that important. |

For me, its a little different. I am super rational in most things. I also know that it makes no difference.
But in sports, and in close personal relationships, I choose to be emotional.
Its like: reason builds the stage, but if on that stage there is no play of love, then the stage is worthless. - PT21
I hope I correctly understand your post.
My point is, in regards to superstitious behaviors in sports and in gambling for example, we will often throw logic and reason out of the equations in situations where the outcome is extremely important and emotional.
As an example, since casino's put up digital screens demonstrating past results ; the last 20 numbers or so and colors that hit on the roulette table, betting as increased significantly.
Why ?
Because of what is called ''gambler’s fallacy'' and the “the fallacy of the maturity of chances.” If Black has hit 7 times in a row, people will have the tendency to bet on Red which is totally irrelevant to past events.
The odds remain the same on the next spin no matter what happened on the previous spins.
Same goes with one wearing his favorite and ''Lucky'' Philly gear on must win games.
One will resort to illogical behavioral tendencies or decisions as a means to ''control'' or affect the outcome even if you're a rational individual and even if you're conscious that the outcome is totally independent of one's action (Illusion of control). Those behaviors are often linked to many forms of biases; causality bias, confirmation bias, emotional and cognitive bias, etc.
That being said, only Philly is immune to that. I'm wearing my''Win Jersey'' tonight and we going to game 7.
Let's go Flyers !!!!! CLAP CLAP... .....CLAP CLAP CLAP

Since we came back against Boston. Hasn’t like two other teams done this since? - Peter Richards
I remember one. LA was down 0-3 against the Sharks. Don't remember which round, but I think it was the first. They beat the Sharks, and they went on to win the Cup. |

I got a big haul of Flyers cards in the mail today. It’s a good sign.
Side note: I don’t advise getting involved in card breaks. It’s addicting as hell and gets expensive as (frank). |

I do understand. You are essentially posting the Malcolm Gladwell/Cass Sunstein kind of heuristic and biases thesis.
Keep in mind though that people often learn from such biases and walk away from them, something those guys do not say (what happens to the guys who wear their favorite lucky jerseys or bet black and then end up on a long losing streak with it on, as is inevitable? Do they still cling to their beliefs? Why, since the premise is destroyed?)
I was just saying that my own superstitions are different. They are a rationally embraced exercise. Its not because I wore this jersey x times and Flyers won or anything like that, as you are saying.
I don't bet against the Flyers no matter how likely I think it is they will lose, because I choose to bar reason from that domain. I don't keep track and think: gee, look, I did not bet the last 10 times, so might as well, won't make any difference, so I will bet.
Hope this completely irrelevant philosophical exercise makes sense. There are obvious dangers to extrapolating it to more important domains where the lives of other people are involved.

You know, all of this could've been avoided had you just been a true fan and predicted the Flyers to win tonight.

Yes, my bad. Along with it, I should also have believed that Tavares was still playing last year for the Isles, and the team that held Caps to 7 goals in 5 games is not a very good defense. |

Basically blindly buying a spot in a pack of sports cards being opened live online. It’s all the rage now and people are making a killing doing it. It’s also as dumb as it sounds and idk how I got sucked into it. |

As a fan I’m sure he wants them to win. Someone looking at it rationally and realistically. Both teams have an equal chance. Looking at the series so far the odds are in the isles favor. The games they won were in regulation. Both of ours were in o t.
I’m hoping hart just closes the door completely. Isles have scored 3 goals in each game. Right. |

Never did a group break, but I'd also never spend $700 on a 5-card pack of The Cup.
I'm looking to unload. Have 2 Giroux The Cup rookies (2 and 3 color), his SPA FW /100, and basically every RC of his. Also a lot of Ghost and some other stuff (Richards The Cup and just a lot of random). Interest? |

Actually it does sound like it would be exciting if you're into cards.
How vintage are the cards, or does it run the gamut from old to new? |

Mostly it's new stuff.
Some packs of 5-8 cards cost upwards of $150, with one specific product being $700+ for 5 cards. So spending $50-$80 bucks to get every card of one team from the entire case (case is several boxes worth) is more affordable, but you could strike out completely. |
