Leafs should trade Nylander +2021 second round to Jersey for the 7th overall pick and then draft Askarov, take Schneider with the 15th pick and flip Andersen for picks / prospects, and then flip 2021 first rounder, AJ and Dermott to the Blues for Parayko - not sure that would be enough. New goalie - check. 2 new RHD - check. Cleared some space for other UFA's - check.

The Leafs are not going to re-sign Freddie after next season. He has huge value right now as he's: a) a legit starting goalie -and- b) is owed only 1M for next season.

The Leafs need to maximize his value as an asset and trade him for parts while he's worth something.

They should be all over Robin Lehner and use the parts received in an Andy trade to bump themselves up in the draft or land a player like Parayko.

PSS, I would also suggest trying to negotiate his next deal to see where he sits in terms of $, if it's too high then this is the year you have to move him to get any value back.

Like the idea of trading for the 7th pick, even taking Askarov (or Drysdale if available) but Nylander is worth more than a 7th pick. NHL ready proven 30+ goal scorer with big upside if there is an add, it will be by the Devils. I also like Schneider, but I like Guhle more at #15. As to trading Andersen for picks - Carolina may be interested but they might need to move a d-man rather than picks. Pesce might be realistic but Leafs would probably have to add something without salary. Paryayko would be nice, but really he's probably with the Blues long term may be a future captain. Other possible landing spots for Andersen would be Oilers or Flames

Too funny - I initially wrote Andersen + a second rounder to the Canes for Pesce or someone like that - so that could be a move as opposed to picks. I think the same about Willy - but if we wanted to get Parayko we need to move $$ and although he's a lot to give up, if it results in a true #1 goalie for the next 7+ years that's pretty good - so maybe NJ sends back a 2nd? Also - I know very little about the 2 D prospects - but have heard they both have a lot of upside.

Try to trade for Gorgiev or Jarry not Murray. They are in the same age group as the rest of the team. If you can't get one of them go to free agency and get stop gaps until Woll or Scott show they are capable or not.
