Hind sight is 20 20 but I feel like if things had worked out that it was no B2b games 3 and 4 and no delay form the protest, we’d have gotten through the series by now. I think varly can be gotten to and the advantage is clear with hart. Moose played well but the kid is dynamite.
I expect nothing from the pp and at this point as long as they don’t give up Sh chances it’s progress.
Key then is to get lots of shots at varly from everywhere. He can be had. If we do that, I think we’re boarding the plane to Edmonton. Can’t go half the game with 8 shots and hope to win again |

At least we get last change in game 7. That’s going to have a impact |

I think the extended rest for Hart due to the protest is very important. He got two days before game 3. Two days after before Game 5. He will be pretty fresh for Game 7. They will need him to be huge again. If the defense gives him a small chance of making the save he has made it 9 times out of 10.

Good points. Any thought on varly? Looks a bit shaky to me and we need to test him.

I still don't understand why Grant is on the PP. Someone help me understand why he is out there. He is not the same player we saw when he arrived, seems like his line is always hemmed in, does not win many faceoffs . We NEED the PP to come up with 1-2. I think the PP is something like 2-50 in the playoffs, I know Ghost is not the best in his own end, but could he not help energize a horrible PP, something has to change with a 2-50 PP |

It’s truly amazing that we have gotten this far without a pp. f we get by the isles. There’s zero chance well survive vs Tampa without some contribution |

Varly has had one decent game this series. He's been mediocre, bad, or completely untested the rest. Throw pucks low on him and drive net for redirects and rebounds.
The fact that they didn't run with Greiss is a but crazy. Thought he's been much better. |

Get it right fella. They are like 4 of 50. 3 in 1 game. Crazy to see it written out.
Yeah the PP is a travesty. The PP needs some penicillin or something. |

I don't want to be the dude in the stands, but just shoot damn puck on the PP.
Granted, don't throw a point shot into a dude's shin pads...but if you can get a shot close to the net for a tip/redirect/screen, let it go. Doesn't need to be a big blast, just get it through. |

Good question. It’s the only way we can win. By draining every ounce of my energy and emotion.
Also. Av is banned from challenging again - Hextall271
The Flyers have won every game that AV had a challenge in. |

I feel the same way. Just shoot the damn puck. Especially if you can go high stick side. There goalie has been shaky at best. |

Looking to win games with best possible lineup.
Scoring 4 goals on 18 shots...probably not happening saturday. Let’s not pretend that we’ve completely figured out the islanders. Haven’t won a game without OT...so yeah...i’m thinking we could use more goals. What team ever thinks “yeah...we got enough goals. Let’s not get any more goals. We’re good.”
Best complementary lineup.
Morgan Frost is a phenomenal skater. He’s no shrinking violet...carried his junior team to the OHL Finals pretty much single handedly...had a terrific World Junior tournament. Frost absolutely offers much more to this team right now.
Like carter hart coming in at 21...when the opportunity presents itself...
History favours the bold...
Be bold...Be a Flyer!!! - bruceflyers
The coach chose to put in a guy who hadn’t played in 9 months and just finish cancer treatments over Frost. If that doesn’t make it clear that it is extremely unlikely that Frost will play I don’t know what will. |

How have the coaches not changed their approach on the PP?
The Flyers do the same drop pass over and over again when breaking out of their zone, but because they do it EVERY time, the Isles are now forechecking on the PK, sometimes with 2 players, because they know they can recover and get back because the Flyers are slowing down (usually twice) and drop passing the puck.
By this time the Isles have 4 players lined up and waiting for them on their own blue line.
Its sometime taking the Flyers 40 seconds just to get out of their own end!
I can see this from the damn couch...why can't the Flyers professional coaching staff see this.
This breakout can work mid season playing a different team every night, but in a series any opponent with competent coaching can and will figure it out.

Not to sound like a broken record but the Flyers better be wide awake to start Saturday. Isles have to be beyond pissed off. |

Bill Meltzer: Wrap: Flyers Dig Deep, Force Game 7 - bmeltzer
Well, these guys have to win now. They have no choice.
I can’t even put together the words, of how upset I was on AV’s coaches challenge. Buddy, you’ve got to be sure and not put your boys in that position.
Hayes is the guy with the scoring touch, why isn’t he replacing Couturier on the first PP unit? Big frame, nice shoot from the slot I’m sure. Konecny has no business there. Also I’m thinking Laughton needs second unit time. As happy as I am to see Lindblom play, how does Grant and Lindblom get that PP ice time over Laughton?
Great victory nonetheless. |

I think they might be also getting frustrated. If this makes them change their game it’s good for us. They may also look to switch tenders. All good stuff in my view. |

Agree with everything here. No reason for Laughton not to be on the PP, shown he has the hands in front with that great tip in game 5. Nice goal last night, and yet Grant gets sent out there. Don't understand it. I wouldnt even mind seeing Myers on the 2nd PP , as he has a cannon of a shot

We’ve all seen plenty of games where the Flyers outplayed their opponent only to lose on a bad break or crazy bounce. So it feels great to be in the other side of the equation and come out on top.
If I’m Trotz Greiss is starting Saturday. If he goes Varlamov then he will have a very short leash to get pulled.
Hayes - I can’t say enough about him. A true leader. At times his stick seems like it has a magnet. He’s always looking to score. Watching especially during OT 1, I had the feeling that Hayes was the only Flyer who realistically had a chance to get them a goal. It felt inevitable that the Isles would score first. The Flyers though took control in the 2nd OT. I don’t know how they did it, they looked completely gassed.
The series in its own way is just as amazing as the 0-3 comeback vs Boston. Different feeling but emotionally equivalent.
So proud of those guys. |
