Voracek had more go his way in Game 5 than Game 6 but it wasn't for lack of trying.

kind of said that before game, no Coots and G had to try and be there #1 player again, he had an overall strong game, not mistake free, not vintage G but strong game

Only way Frost plays is if they have more injuries. Lindblom played because he is a proven entity at the NHL level and at worst he is a really good defensive player. He does not need to score to contribute points to be a positive player.

Frost is like Ghost right now. If he isn't producing points he is pretty much not useful. They scored four goals in Game 5 and five in Game 6. They are not starving for goals at this point.

- mickel25

Lindblom was noticeably slow and you could see him fall or lose his balance as he tired. How will he feel today? I don't know but if they have a better option they should use it

I still don't understand why Grant is on the PP. Someone help me understand why he is out there. He is not the same player we saw when he arrived, seems like his line is always hemmed in, does not win many faceoffs . We NEED the PP to come up with 1-2. I think the PP is something like 2-50 in the playoffs, I know Ghost is not the best in his own end, but could he not help energize a horrible PP, something has to change with a 2-50 PP
- 3flyerkids

not sure why he is on the ice. I dont know what happen to him, are the playoffs that much different than the regular season? Did he not work out hard enough during lock down? He went from resign that guy to we have plenty to replace him.

Agree with everything here. No reason for Laughton not to be on the PP, shown he has the hands in front with that great tip in game 5. Nice goal last night, and yet Grant gets sent out there. Don't understand it. I wouldnt even mind seeing Myers on the 2nd PP , as he has a cannon of a shot
- 3flyerkids

that said leave JVR on PP1 and leave him in front of the net

PS I would rather have Raffle on PP than Grant

The Flyers have won every game that AV had a challenge in.

I am pretty sure the Bruins won a 7 game series in 2011 without a PPG.

Another question. Has a team won all four games of a series in OT? I am pretty confident that has never happened.

- mickel25

Buffalo did against Boston I believe

Lots of negative criticism for Thompson and Hagg lately but they both had pretty strong games last night I thought.

Getting Raffl back was huge. I think Raffl is a guy who could be on the 2nd PP unit right now as well as Laughton.

Be physical with every line except the 4 th line. Martin and clutterbuck. Minus NAK we don’t have hitters to match. Seems like when we are hitting their other lines they back off. Then their 4 th smashes our guys and we back off. Then their speed takes over for a bit.

Highs and lows. I get it.

I’d definitely like to see them be more physical with Barzal. When they back off bad things happen.

Hind sight is 20 20 but I feel like if things had worked out that it was no B2b games 3 and 4 and no delay form the protest, we’d have gotten through the series by now. I think varly can be gotten to and the advantage is clear with hart. Moose played well but the kid is dynamite.

I expect nothing from the pp and at this point as long as they don’t give up Sh chances it’s progress.

Key then is to get lots of shots at varly from everywhere. He can be had. If we do that, I think we’re boarding the plane to Edmonton. Can’t go half the game with 8 shots and hope to win again

Greiss will be in net. We’re doomed

Hagg was solid and Thompson was noticeable which is good. When he pulls a draw the Flyers lose the puck battle and possession they need to fix that. His line gets clobbered with possession.

We’ve all seen plenty of games where the Flyers outplayed their opponent only to lose on a bad break or crazy bounce. So it feels great to be in the other side of the equation and come out on top.

If I’m Trotz Greiss is starting Saturday. If he goes Varlamov then he will have a very short leash to get pulled.

Hayes - I can’t say enough about him. A true leader. At times his stick seems like it has a magnet. He’s always looking to score. Watching especially during OT 1, I had the feeling that Hayes was the only Flyer who realistically had a chance to get them a goal. It felt inevitable that the Isles would score first. The Flyers though took control in the 2nd OT. I don’t know how they did it, they looked completely gassed.

The series in its own way is just as amazing as the 0-3 comeback vs Boston. Different feeling but emotionally equivalent.

So proud of those guys.

- Marc D

Agreed on Hayes. If they do pull this off yes. It’s epic.

Yes. Raffl has been an unsung hero since bubble hockey began. Laughton for the most past has also been solid. Great depth guys and without them we’re toast with the lack of
Scoring from the stars

Laughton had a great game and stepped up in the absence of Couturier. Mostly playing center. Where is (Hockey)Al?

Carter Hart! I don't need to say anything else, but I will.
Beyond great to see Oskar playing again!
As others mentioned, TK was playing the role of Hartnell last night, but I did love that face he made at Greene.
Also mentioned, Coots did not look done for the year. No apparent brace, leg was not raised and iced. Available for Game 7??
The dump ins to the opposite corner were more effective than dump ins from earlier in the series, and the reduction in reversing the puck behind our own net has had some impact as well.
I don't care if the Flyers are outplayed, outscored, get knocked around and are slower than any other team as long as they win. Sixteen of them add up to something permanent.
The worst part of last night was my foolish read-back of last night's comments. First of all, I am an avowed technidiot and can not pay attention to anything but the game while it is ongoing, so I applaud those able to focus on both the game and their devices. That said, I can't believe the number of somewhat reasonable posters who gave up at 3-2 and 4-3. When people mock Philadelphia fans, they just might be right. Although, all teams/cities have their extremists fans.

We had only a few chances in the third and he comes through with a great breakaway goal.

I don't want to be the dude in the stands, but just shoot damn puck on the PP.

Granted, don't throw a point shot into a dude's shin pads...but if you can get a shot close to the net for a tip/redirect/screen, let it go. Doesn't need to be a big blast, just get it through.

I never give up on the team but there are ups and downs to each game and they frustrate the hell out of me at times. I think it’s fine to vent to ur frustration as long as your not attacking someone. The lack of shots on goal last night drove me bonkers.

I’m very interested to read your take on coots. I tend to agree. If he was done for the year say with a torn up knee. He’s exit the bubble and prob get surgery wouldn’t he? Perhaps it’s a bad sprain that just needed a few days and he’ll return with a brace or something. That’s what I hope but who knows.

Voracek posted on Twitter last night
Why all the hate Twitter

I thought it was pretty funny but as a group of fans we can get pretty negative when things aren’t going right

At the same time Philly fans will support to the ends of the world a team that wins on effort and heart even when lacking skill

It’s amazing psyche to be a part of

Agree about Oskar
If he ends up playing again and scoring a big goal the guy will be immortalized in Philly

I did not see this Giroux you are describing, Bill.

On the pass you reference, he got lucky. With a clear lane to lay it ahead, he made an uncharacteristically poor pass. If it had gone where it was intended, it would have slowed Scotty down. Toews deflects it with his stick and it lays out perfectly for Scotty to take it in full stride.

Otherwise, I saw some effort, but that's about it. Thompson dominated almost to the same extent as Giroux did on FOs. That's good but that's 5% of what we expect.

From an eye test, Hayes showed it is possible to be creative even with this disciplined, stingy Isles D. Advanced stats confirm this. Giroux had an expected goal score (iXG) of 0.08! That puts him 10th on the Flyers roster with 30 mins of ice time. Even NAK is ahead!

In watching Giroux, the will and effort are clearly there. I don't see the skating speed slow too much.

But the elite reads are a half-second slower than they used to be. The puck stays on the stick a tad longer than it used to, and the anticipation has slowed down.

Sure there are flashes, and I hope there will be more, but the decline is pretty evident now and has been for some time.

Not to sound like a broken record but the Flyers better be wide awake to start Saturday. Isles have to be beyond pissed off.

JVR in a nutshell:

Individual expected goals created: 0.5 (highest on team)
Relative Corsi: -22.31 (lowest on team)

Imo, its good to see the big fella go. I would live with his effort happily given our problems creating good chances.

I’m getting too old. I think I legitimately almost had a heart attack. Took me hours to decompress. I don’t know how those Dmen play so calmly. Myers, again, looks like he has ice in his veins. What an amazing game. Cahtah Haht.... what can you even say? Here’s hoping Coots’ knee magically heals for Saturday.

I hear ya. I could not go to sleep till 3:30 myself.
