Any Sean Couturier updates?
If I’m AV, I’m pulling a script from the old Hitch playbook. Couturier is arguable the best shutdown center in the league. If Couturier can play, his assignment becomes shutting down Barzel and being Keith Primeau 2003-04....or Sean Couturier 2012. Sometimes you have to give up some offense for steady defense.

Still waiting for the ignore button feature on this site. Although I do enjoy the back and forth of someone's idea or thought process being irrelevant and always wrong when it's not identical to his own
Lets go Flyers!!
One more game before we face tampa bay! |

JJ Daigneault did not score an OT winner. The other one happened just 4 games ago. - mickel25
That's right. I always think that Daigneualt goal in game 6 of 1987 was in OT. Don't know why. Myers is the other one. Good question. I saw all of them live except the Dupont goal. |

We’ve all seen plenty of games where the Flyers outplayed their opponent only to lose on a bad break or crazy bounce. So it feels great to be in the other side of the equation and come out on top.
If I’m Trotz Greiss is starting Saturday. If he goes Varlamov then he will have a very short leash to get pulled.
Hayes - I can’t say enough about him. A true leader. At times his stick seems like it has a magnet. He’s always looking to score. Watching especially during OT 1, I had the feeling that Hayes was the only Flyer who realistically had a chance to get them a goal. It felt inevitable that the Isles would score first. The Flyers though took control in the 2nd OT. I don’t know how they did it, they looked completely gassed.
The series in its own way is just as amazing as the 0-3 comeback vs Boston. Different feeling but emotionally equivalent.
So proud of those guys. - Marc D

I honestly didn't think we would play that well without coots but we still won!
Coots provy and Hart are, imo, the Hart of this team
Way to go Flyers!! Still winning without our selke center |

A stat slash trivia question that will always bother me. Three goalies in flyers history have back to back shutouts in the playoffs. Parent. Hart. And leighton. The five hole hero. |

The point is, we need a pure shutdown line to go up against the Islanders top line. I think G has been really good at center. |

I thought the same thing about the Daigneault goal. I saw all except the DuPont and Howe goals.
The best goal of the group was Haller's. Put the Flyers up 2-0 on the defending champ Rangers. The worst was Dykhuis' goal against the Sabres. That thing bounced like 75 times on the way in. |

Hitchcock was horrible.
Not taking sht from fatso’s playbook.
The same playbook that said to play darrien hatcher and mike rathje 30 minutes a night...
NO THANKS!!! |

I've watched the GWG about 25 times, how the hell did Hayes know Provorov was there? If I'm not mistaken Provorov was not on the ice when the play was developing he came from the bench once the Flyers entered the Islanders zone. It doesn't look like Hayes sees him cruising into the slot. Incredible play by Hayes. - PLindbergh31
Love how amped up Provy was. He couldn’t believe he scored |

I thought he had a good game. Imo he was by far the best in getting pucks out calmly from our zone. I thought Hagg had probably his best game of the series.
My D rankings would be:
Provorov
Niskanen
Hagg
Myers
Sanheim
Braun |

I’m no huge Islanders fan but don’t you think watching Barzal is exciting? He generates good scoring chances nearly every time he’s on the ice.
Their 4th line is methodical and has some skill too. Probably the best 4th line in the game.
Maybe excelling at forechecking and scoring off turnovers and then playing tight 5 man as a group D is boring(?) but it’s a winning formula in playoff hockey.
I could do with less grabbing and picking and interfering but if the refs don’t call it then you can get away with it. - Marc D
Barzal is the only thing that makes an Isles game worth watching. People thought the Isles would fall apart after Tavares left, and they didn't. And Tavares hasn't seemed to push the Leafs to the next level either. Maybe one takeaway here is - Tavares impact was overrated to some degree.

Think its safe to say next season Hagg becomes a regular replacing Braun in the lineup? |
|
|
|
You're confused. The question wasn't if Barzal was better than Giroux. I think you need to review. I've already posted what the HDCF ratio was when Giroux was on the ice at 5 on 5. You ignored it. Doesn't fit your narrative. - MJL
As usual you’re the wrong one that’s actually trying to twist original content to fit your narrative. The original content was g line was outplayed. Which everyone except you say passes the eye test AND BUTTHOLE CLINCHING TEST. You try to twist with a stat of puck control time sog and goals while on ice. And after you say strategies ARENT based on stats? You sir do NOT know your ass from a hole in the ground. Go ahead respond and twist to try to start a debate to drive up comments. Won’t work. This is a one time response to defend someone else actually a few others so they don’t have too. Seriously I won’t even say go get another team because that would just be wrong. I won’t even say go get another sport. Try finger painting maybe. Self critic yourself and debate your awesomeness |

Im more concerned now and going forward with Sanheim being routinely pushed off the puck by 5'8 175lb players. he's as soft as Charmin and the coaching staff has to force him into a strength training program asap.

Just hand him a righty stick.
(In all seriousness, there's no need to replace Braun. Leave that spot open for competition from within) |
