Just my opinion, but, the Canucks won’t be truly competitive until Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are around 25 years of age and they get a new General Manager.

They’ll be entertaining enough, but not competitive until they’re able to play a different style of game with way better depth.

The problem is, you can only make so many changes every year in the current NHL climate, it’s just so hard to make moves now. Which is one of the reasons I think it’ll take three years to be competitive if they make the right moves.

Benning has a pretty sketchy trading track record, yes he’s got a few wins but way more loses than wins. I still maintain he’s not a well respected GM when it comes to trading, just a gut feeling I have.

Easy to keep whining without the whom.

Badly outplayed ? Vegas going into game 7 looked rattled. Canucks as badly as they were outplayed were one shot away from going to the final 4 with 6 minutes left in the game.

St L finished the season on top of their division and Vegas IMO are the best team in the league. We are not talking about squeaking by Detroit and Ottawa.

I get that there are people here that don't like Benning and are happy to see him fall flat on his face but don't take away from what they did this year. They beat two solid teams and went to game 7 against the best. Enjoy the process.

Really depends on what happens in the off-season, same group gets you another bubble team imo.

These kids have literally been learning how to win right before our very eyes. Special stuff and group regardless of who returns. Hughes is Norris quality as is Petey MVP quality. Just can't see this club taking a collective step backwards from this point forward IMO. Build around what you have and move forward.

I can see them taking a step back, before taking 2 steps forward.

They're actually just full grown men. Reminds me of the times in youth soccer we'd play mens teams in exhibitions. The skill level may be comparable, but going in for a tackle with a guy that has 7 years and 30+ pounds on you is totally different
