That works as well. Isn't that supposed to be JV? Maybe thats what goes the other way? - VanHockeyGuy
JV has beena huge disappointment. To bad the team could use his skills, he just can't bring those skills consistently enough.

This is remarkably close.
I'm torn on Toffoli and would be ok with Sutter for one more year. Other than that you are pretty much bang-on. - LordHumungous
Benning can’t go into next season with both Sutter and Beagle, he just can’t, it would be a massive fail on his part. |

Not at 6.5 million. I have said several times, we could use a player like Lawson Crouse, big strong and some speed. - Reubenkincade

Hog & Pod won't be top 6 right away, if at all. TT gives them 2 legitimate scoring lines. I'm for keeping him on a reasonable deal. - VanHockeyGuy
Agree. Not sure what salary is fair but I'd be ok if he stayed. |

I think we will bring him back but I think after this week Benning will be questioning who he wants as a starter and how much he pays him.

Leivo? - VANTEL
Forgot about him, I’d re-sign him if I could get him at a decent price. |
|
|
|
He’s not a center though, I’d try and send Loui Eriksson to AZ for Stephen, he’s only signed for one more year, along with some sweetener of course. - Pacificgem
I realize he isn't a centre, but then again neither is Tuch.
The Canucks can be a bit patient at 3C, if they have better wingers on 3rd line like Lawson. |

He didn't play a ton of games, if they could get him signed to a 1 year show me deal, that works as well. Easier said than done. |

I liked hiim . He was a third liner that could play also with Bo. His numbers were good. |

I was just looking at an article about center depth in the NHL, this was their bit on Vancouver
——————————————————————————-
“Vancouver Canucks
Brandon Sutter is stuck in Vancouver because of Jim Benning. I swear most of the Canucks forwards should be in the AHL.
Good on them for staying in the NHL though.”
Edit: article was written for the 2018/19 season. |

Either way, we're gonna need to pay a goalie if we want to try to make another run. We aren't that deep with ready prospects there, and anybody who thinks this year's run wasn't a direct result of great goalies is missing the plot entirely.
I'm with the guys that are saying we'll probably need 2-3 good goalies to get through another condensed schedule next season as well. |

Let Markstrom walk and sign a good backup for Demko. Not opposed to trading Demko if you can get first & second round picks for him though. |

Call it what you want, I think I'm a realist who isn't clouded by fandom. I've been a Canuck fan since their inception, so I've faced a lifetime of disappointment cheering for them. They are on the right track for something special so long a the process is not sped up.
Enjoy your half full glass. - Marwood

I agree about 2 good goalies . I am just not a fan of overpaying. Markstrom's performance deserves 6 mil in other years for sure . I am not sure I want to pay that much in 2-3 Covid years when there are others maybe a little less as skilled like Holtby at 5.
Not saying you're wrong I am saying I am unsure.

Markstrom is gonna want to get paid, this is his one chance to maximize his salary for the rest of his career. He’s not taking anything less than 6 million over five years imo. |

Everyone is wanting to get paid . The entire league does not have that much cap space. Even a team like AVs who have money this year need to save some to sign Makar and Landeskog next year. Unless your name is Ottawa Detroit or NJ teams will be spending wisely.
If Tanev wants 6 mil then enjoy Detroit. |

They obviously have good chemistry, why break up the room at the first taste of success?
Give Demko some more runway to prove he wasn't a flash in the pan. Being a starter is more than getting hot for 3 games. Getting rid of Marky and signing a back-up for Demko has the potential to set this team back a couple of years. Not something I'd risk.

Because the six million you’d tie up in Markstrom, who’s 31 in January, would be prohibitive in fixing the rest of the team because of the gross contracts given out by Jim Benning.
Demko’s succeeded at every level of hockey he’s ever played, he was too good for the AHL, it’s his time to be a starter. Sure he may falter now and again, no one is great for 82 games. Get him a backup and run with him. |
