Agreed. I can’t argue with this guy anymore. Flyers will give him all the time he needs. And one roster spot On a year to year deal to get your 2nd overall pick playing is not really a huge risk.

All we can do is go off what Patrick and the team says and by all accounts he’s feeling the best he has since this started and is focusing on coming back at the start of next season. Why we’re talking about the kid considering career changes right now is just insane to me.

Think about it. Why would the Flyers want to risk more than one year? Patrick has no leverage whatsoever and won't get a good deal. The best situation for both is a one year deal.
- MJL

Agreed. And he has been with the team and remains in the area. If he leaves then I’d be concerned.

Ok, what about Laine? If he wants out, what choice does WPG have?

I'm just trying to think of ways to make the team better and willing to pay to do it.

- DrMidnite

Well there are reports Laine wants out so I see that being a bit more realistic.

Winnipeg needs defense. We aren’t going to move Provy. So that means they’re probably going to want Sanheim+. That’s not something I would immediately hang up on but with him wanting out and needing a contract after next season that “+” isn’t going to be much. I’d also want something conditionally coming back if for whatever reason we don’t get him signed.

Yep, too bad it wasn't another team. I am not ignoring what he did PRE migraine, I just can see that Pre and Post are gone be the same.
- BadCowboyDan

Pre migraine? Are you talking about Jake or Nolan lol? I’m just focusing on Jake with my point(s)

Sounds good!

It's going to be a blitzkrieg off season..

Could be real interesting immediately after this season ends.

I'm not trading a young two way quality puck moving defenseman for a winger. Laine is not good enough for me to make that trade.

You are off-the-rails insane.

But fine. What would an MJL offer for Laine actually look like?

Laine isnt that good. He is a good goal scorer but he he is like the JVR of his draft. He is a one dimensional scorer who is very good at scoring goals but much like JVR, he does in bunches and when he doesnt score, he doesnt contribute that much. I would 100% prefer him to JVR dont get me wrong but I wouldnt trade any young assets for him.

Because why......what no one here, or the media or the organization will never talk about.....Hextall was an overrated talent evaluator and terrible GM.

Just go on Wikipedia and look up 2014-2018 NHL Draft...it lists every pick, from every round.....the mistakes made by Hextall are glaring

Well I certainly prefer a point producing, goal scoring center if he’s out there but I’m not sure who is.

This UFA group is a bit iffy this year imo. I don’t want to get into a bidding war for Hall. I think Dadanov could be a hell of an add but he’s 31 and someone is going to give him too many years. If we can unload JVR I think they make a move of some kind.

I think the problems our PP suffered from these playoffs gets addressed with some sort of roster move. They’ve already seemed to try everything else. That’s gotta get fixed.

The Flyers always have trouble with teams that forecheck hard and clog up the neutral zone. The only way for the Flyers to get through the neutral zone was to lob the puck over the Islander's d-men. Our forwards didn't give much help to our d-men as we tried to exit our zone. too many one and done's or none and done's. Hopefully AV and Company addresses this issue for next season? The islanders had more energy and out skated the Flyers the entire series. The only Flyer that constantly hustled was Pitlick. That guy has some engine and always gives 110%, unlike JVR, who is still an extremely lazy player. It's great that Hart and other young players got a taste of playoff hockey.

In all reality, the Flyers won their games in the round robin and went 7 games with the Islanders, but they never really played great hockey since the reboot. Our big names didn't play big, our PP was non existent and we barely got any shots on goal. AV and staff made improvements this season, but they still have a lot of work ahead of them for next season. Fingers crossed for next season........

He would not be out of place in the top six.

He already has 140 goals and is only 22.

Once again I am just trying to spitball and I enjoy other people offering their own ideas.

1) He isnt a rookie. It was a mistake. It is his 2nd year. Still justification for my point. Young players hit wall. You dont become a pro over night unless you are Crosby or McDavid

2) The easiest way I can explain it is this. NHL Calder trophy is awarded to the best rookie in a season. If you play less than 25 games you are not considered a rookie and are omitted from the trophy. When you participate the next year and play over 25 games, you are then in the running for the Calder as a rookie. Therefore since Lindblom played less than 25 games, his first year is not considered his rookie year. His 2nd year is considered his rookie year.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

I don't know why you are fixated on rookie classification. It is not material to Lindblom's case. He played an intervening year.

The basic issue here is what the NHL counts as an accrued year. For example, you can become an UFA after 7 accrued years or age 27, whichever is earlier. An accrued year is any year where the guy is on the NHL roster for 40 games. He does not have to play.

Moving more to the point, I honestly don't know what your own is. I never said Lindblom is not going to be good or even not a star. I simply said the jury is still out.

I’d hope another young guy pushes for a spot. Whether it’s Frost, German, Carsen or Bunny. I know he’s been banged up here and there in recent years, but would love Allison to be a dark horse. People have said he has an NHL shot release. Ratcliffe seems like he’ll need another year. Another young guy, not sure what he’ll do with NCAA sports not happening, is Noah Cates. Flyers management seem to be high on him. Plus Tanner Lyz (I’m not attempting to spell that lol). Also I totally forgot about Sandin

Good afternoon Joe! Nice to see you posting.
Like I said the future is bright nonsense is just hot air. We live in the present.

Yea i been real busy in the rw... coming out of social media exile to see that pie in the sky over tomorrowland...🤣
I mean there are positives... we have the usual “young talent” unfortunately the young talent is always straddled with excuses as to why they emd up like JVR and the other holdover...
We do have an NHL caliber coach again. Not a guy who became friends with the GM at his son’s irrelevant non-pro hockey league.
And we have a goalie who we aren’t worried will be found wearing diapers with a burger king crown on his head and some coloring books, so there is room to be optimistic....
Unfortunately this custom of over-valuing and refusing to let go of our own players doesn’t seem to be going anywhere... no matter how gutless they play.😉

So what? How long do you think it took me to write that? Definitely more than a few minutes. How is it not a waste of my time? Is 15-20 mins of your time worth 1 post? I could consider this entire argument a waste of my time because I have spent like 30-40 mins on this site arguing to some random person who isnt going change their mind no matter what facts are presented.

That sounds great but we still need some big leaps forward by individuals for us to win it all.

I love this team and will be real interested to see what Fletcher does, because I REALLY think it will be unexpected, whatever it is.

I think that HE thinks we are close and will be open to a home run sort of move.

What scares me is the same thing that sacred me before this season. Does the mandate from upper management still hold true? Look at where were at. The same place they were under Holmgren year after year with that approach. Not good enough. Despite the spending and putting the team up against the cap, they're still going to have to wait for the young players. I believe that Hextall signed JVR to try and appease management and hold them off. Right now it looks like a bad deal. They have more dead cap money because they had to have Braun. Hayes was a good deal and Niskanen a good trade. Lets stay away from the UFA market and let the team develop.

I'll save you some time. Eichel is not available.
- MJL

Are you sure? I never thought Brind’amour or Bobrovsky were available but lo and behold if I ever criticize those moves the flyer-fan loyalty police will cite me for failing to recognize those guys asked to be traded... i mean Eichel has pretty much done that publicly as opposed to a private meeting that nobody hears about till after the god-awful trade.🤷‍♂️

You don't get to decide the conditions. The NHL specifies what a rookie is. If you want to ignore that, then that is on you. The reason for the hypothetical is that it invalidates your comment on the ELC contract.
- MJL

The issue is not who is a rookie, for crying out loud. The issue is which year will the league consider Lindblom to be.

Now ignore his age (he is 24). Lets say he was 20.

Now suppose he plays every game the next 4 seasons. Does he complete 7 years after the next 4? Is he an UFA then or not?
