I'll just summarize my list of 8oa from '08 to '18 a little more succinctly

Highest end - Couturier, effective immediately

Serviceable immediately, low ceiling - Boedker, Risto

Good after starting D+1 - Werenski, the good Nylander

Not good/meh/inc - bad nylander, Glennie, Burmistrov, mitts, Pouliot, Boquist

3/11 chance so far of drafting someone who could be called objectively good. Could rise to 5/11 depending on mitts and Boquist.

It would be interesting to include data from 7oa and 9oa to sort of take away some randomness, but i don't feel like doing that

Wanna really cramp your brain? Do the 9th pick.

Zegras, Kravtsov, Rasmussen, Sergavhev, Meier, Ehlers, Horvat, Trouba, Hamilton and Granlund since 2010.

The fact of the matter is that there are elite, All star level prospects available at 8 in every draft. It's also true that you can miss at every pick. Either it's a bit of a poop show or we should trade #8 for #9.

Edit: This was in response to the value of the pick/whether to trade and less about the amount of time to develop.

I hope so, but I'm not sure.

I can't see Monahan being moved for spare parts.

I also think the ROR deal put trades like that under a microscope.

Domi maybe possible, but I am not thrilled with that move tbh

When the Sabres top 3 Centers next year are Eichel, Henrique, and Haula, it won't be thrilling, but it will be a large upgrade over the past 2 seasons and be impactful.

I can live with those until Cozens is ready.

Those moves are very impactful, as you said. Now other players can slot where they truly belong, i.e. MoJo

Lazy. That's kind of important to be just a bit more accurate.

Yes that would, could be interesting to if Haula can stay healthy.

Get an impact winger and that can work.

They absolutely have to get another play driver or someone who has a big effect on goals for. It’s a must.

Alright?

By all means, take the time to compile average year started and the ceiling or floor for those 30 draft picks. Break it down by first impactful year, and what percent chance there is of: 1st line/pair, 2nd, 3rd, 4th/reserve, AHL, out of game.

Reinhart, Skinner and VO in the top 6 are not wingers for a winner. They need a skilled winger with grit, size and skill in the top six. No more pu$$y futting around the boards and corners.

If Haula from a couple years ago comes in, him and Skinner could be good together, get Anderson to work the walls, could make for a interesting line.

Based on the past 11 years of 8th OA picks (08-18), the soonest youre likely to see a player and have him be good is D+1

Id take monahan over 40% chance of bum and 60% chance of bum or meh

- jcragcrumple

First part is fine. Second part is just being deceptive.

Still don't believe Monahan for 8 is even an option.

Before I do that, what do you consider 'impactful' to mean?

I wonder if Tampa could be a target to get Tyler Johnson , Ondrej Palat and say Mitchell Stephens, Carter Verhaeghe or Mathieu Joseph.

By the most general standards I'd say 20 goals 40 points or 19-20 minute playing D man who isn't generally considered a tire fire defensively

First year they played 60+ games with... idk 30 -35 points for forwards and if you don't want to use points for defensemen, use minutes. Say 16

That is a very liberally used word and used when a player is having a down year but his analytics can be manipulated in way to read "impactful" I remember reading a Chad D article last year that said Skinner was "impactful." Even though he has few goals, assists, PP goals, OT minutes and goals and the Sabres sucked but he wrote an article about how he was impactful.

Tampa wins the cup IMO they do a rebuild on the fly. Some big pieces are moved to create space.

According to @ByScottPowers, the Chicago Blackhawks have offered goaltender Corey Crawford a 1-year deal worth around $3.5 million.

Contract negotiations are ongoing between the Blackhawks and Crawford

I love Toffoli. He’d be perfect here. Once again though it’s all about the term and the AAV.

If they can get him for 5 years or less that’s great. Anything more then that is risky business

I didn't hear anything on years but i'm guessing they aren't looking for any big time deals with years unless it's a big time young player ( Cirelli) for example.
