i'm not conviced he's worth this year's 8oa
- Michael Pachla

I think that's what gives some pause.

This is a very good draft. Curious Mike, don't remember, who is the guy you want to, realistically, fall to 8?

To me, it comes down to: are you good with bringing in a cheaper option in Haula/Soderberg/Strome and rolling with the roster because the assumption is Cozens will be there sooner rather than later? Or do you actually want a 2C?

I'd take Monahan and pay the PRICE, personally

Originally I thought Perfetti might be there. Probably ain't gonna happen. If Rossi's there, I'm in. But he'll probably be gone. I like the idea of Holtz.

Sign me up for that. Have to stop buying high in the trade market. We simply don't have the assets to do that and succeed.

If done sufficiently I think it could work. But like kingcong says, it has to be predicated on bringing in 2 of them. And they both have to work. Could it work with two of Strome/Domi/Henrique/Haula/Soderberg/Bonino?

Yes, but you have to get 2, and they both need to produce.

Id still prefer to take the Monahan-for-8 route if possible and try to supplement with one of haula or Soderberg for L3

We don’t have the assets to continually trade 2nd and 3rds or B prospects annually to go “cheap” either.

All your doing is making sure you then have to go get more players the next year

At what point do we get a roster we can compete with ?

I actually think on some level it's more risky to keep going cheap. You can keep paying low prices (2nds, 3rds, 4ths, b-prospects) for low-risk/high-reward players, but the most likely outcome of that is mediocre results for mediocre players.

If you're doing that, you have to hope that someone like Jason Nightingale can look at the data and identify some misunderstood asset to maximize

and at the start of last year, their schedule was middle of the pack

and their win over the titans, was against the team up 17-7 in the afc championship game in the second quarter

and we beat the titans on the road

if the team does what they are suppose to do, they will be a 10-6 or 11-5 team and much better then they were last year despite similar records

- navinrjohnson

And a Steelers team that came into the game going 6-1 in their last 7 to get to 8-5, on the road, in primetime.

I’m fine going cheap if it’s trying to land someone who you feel is undervalued by another team. That I’m good with.

I’m done with punting the need for an established top 6 forward until *maybe* the 8th pick and Cozens are ready for those spots.

We need a top 6 and top 9 forward. One center one wing.

They can be either way IMO. If they add a legit 3C. They can surround him with two good wingers and act as a competent 2nd line

If they add a top 6 center you can pair 6 capable forwards across 3 lines and get a net positive result

I'd like to know what happened to Henrik Borgstrom in Fl. Killed it in college, solid rookie campaign, then fell apart

Try to trade the Sabres for the Blue Jays
- jcragcrumple

There is a pretty good chance the Blue Jays play home games in Buffalo to start the season next year

It's been a viscous spiral, for sure. If you aren't developing good players, you're in trouble.

I'd love to see them play some "home games" in front of fans at Sahlen Field next year (assuming there's a vaccine) as a thank you of sorts.

It won't happen, I know

This all depends on what Canada decides to do at the border. If they don't open the border for travel in and out without quarantining there is no chance that baseball starts their season in Toronto.

I have heard from friends that are Canadian that they were looking at the end of the year to open up the border but it could easily be pushed later.

I'd fly home for them

It would be great but I doubt it if Toronto is able to host games

- Michael Pachla

Cap is going to be flat at 81.5 million right?

If they spend $74-$75 I don't think it matters too much

There are going to be teams that were banking on a cap increase (Tampa)

But if they set it at like $71 million and aren't flexible then they're a joke
