And there in lies the difference between Terry and Tom...
Tom the businessman - “breakeven, call me in Rochester if you need anything”
Terry the fan boy - break the bank for mediocre players, throw good money after bad and never put the money where it could do the most good for the team (experienced management). And when he finally lost enough money And drilling another well wouldn’t help, now it’s the “lean” approach. - Gr8daygo
So your saying over spending didn't get result, so maybe try a different approach? I'm not defending them, get the results before that. But you don't change the results just by repeating the same mistakes.
On top of that, what you said does not change at all that it's still a business. Player payroll is a large portion of that business expense. Being lean can also mean being smarter. Maybe paying Sam is a good idea, maybe it's not. Either way, looking at it isn't a bad thing. |

At that point, Darcy had been here forever. You hire the president to make the decision on Darcy out of the gate. Terry still flys around and woos players. And does all that stuff. Maybe a real president doesn’t advise in the super tank? Or let’s Darcy go and not ruff? Or isn’t the one giving terry bad info and stabbing him in the back, if you believe gerbe.
A real president, at the start, with terry wooing and not making hockey decisions and we are probably looking at a much better past 9 years. We may not have jack. But we may have a more complete, competitive team.
There are just too many miss steps over 9 years not to think that a real qualified hockey president at the start would have us in better position now.
Now we have the stigma and stank of 9 years of futility and meddling ownership - Gr8daygo
Seriously though, we would be on team president #4 or #5 by now.
The Sabres were stable and competitive under the darcy/lindy regime.
Why would any new owner of any business fire the current proven staff?
Gotta imagine the new owners would need some time to learn on the job.
The pegula's owned the team about 3 or 4 years before tanking in 2014/ 2015 and again in 2018 for dahiln/tkachuk/svev
Easy to look back and criticize.
Revolutionary history might be the term

Going lean, doesn't mean changes can't happen. Throw some money at a some HEART this team is lacking that. |

If they are really doing this, trade Eichel. Just do it. I’ll have no interest in them putting out another half ass product anyways, so get on with rebuild part 3 |

3 very different talent levels there....
If Mitts played with Jack and Sam this year, he'd out produce Olofsson. Even Strength.
Imagine you hate the sound of that. It's something I'd love to see in camp. - Lunaion
I'd love for someone to earn/take the spot from ollo.
That would lock up ollo - 2c - skins for a real 2nd line.
Tage-Jack-Sam (1 year 4.95 million)
Ollo-cozens- skins
Not sure if I agree with tages production being the same as olloffson, but I respect your opinion 👊 |

I’m going to wait until December before I freak out on what the payroll looks like.
Until then it’s just talk. |

What's by default ?
Let me know if this is by default?
Team picks a center in the top 7 or 8 picks
Team sends the center back to juniors to learn a bit more
Pandemic happens
Team uses same 20 year old center do fill a position he was drafted to fill.
Player has nhl size and produced at every level
Player is one of the top recognized prospects not in the nhl
Seems like a natural progression to me.
Forced would have been last year

That's it, let's wait a few months before we freak out. What's a little more waiting, we've been doing it for a decade anyways. |

Does a President absolutely require experience at that position, or is it possible for someone with extensive experience be promoted into the position?
If previous experience as a President is required, why, and how do you explain all the promotions in the world of hockey, and in all other industries?
I'd submit that holding of such a title is not in fact a requirement. - IonSabres
Of course it doesn't require that experience. I'm just having some fun with someone who thinks it's essential.

by default means they didn't go get someone that we KNOW can play center in the NHL above the 4th line.. if we acquire a center through trade or UFA and cozens beats them out for that job great.. but if he is the only option... real human babies will be punted |

Was suggesting Mitts at 1LW. Just something I'd like to see in camp.
Jack + Tage has never looked good. Not a lot of hope there.

As long as we don't ruin him, I'd almost rather go with Cozens than the (frank)ing Marcus Johansson experience at 2C again. |

we are all doomed.. we will end up with johansson as 2C and cozens as 3C.. the only signing or trade we will get will be for a larry to be named at a later date.. but they will be trotted out as a 2nd line winger.. |

Originally I thought Perfetti might be there. Probably ain't gonna happen. If Rossi's there, I'm in. But he'll probably be gone. I like the idea of Holtz. - Michael Pachla

Friedman on @TheInstigators podcast reports the #Flames are looking for D options and they've looked at Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Brad Treliving has previously worked with the Coyotes as well as Don Maloney who was the former GM in Arizona and is now VP of Hockey Ops.

Friedman also reports they've considered Rasmus Ristolainen of the Buffalo Sabres before, perhaps they circle back there. |

pretty sure vet GM's and head coaches cost more then rookie gm's and outcasts like Ralph |
