We wait and see what happens, Adams surprises all and makes a few savy trades and acquires a couple FA that are decent players and have HEART. - Buff36
Couldn’t agree more here. Filling a 2c position and a couple heart filled Larry’s would go a long way. Even if the season starts with Tage at 2rw, but they find a decent 2c, I’m fine with that.
Add in some heart on line 4. And maybe at LD. Or even Hammer time from AZ to pair with Dahlin for a year...
Just a couple simple moves and it’s a different team.
I think it was Adams that said he was looking for the right players that fit together (paraphrasing).
If all he is able to do is stop from smashing square pegs into round holes (ie mojo at 2c) I’d actually consider it a successful season. |

I am not sure disco would have received a job
nobody else wanted him the year he was a free agent, nobody else hired him to be a head coach in the 3 plus years since we canned him
hell I don't think he ever got an interview during those 4 plus years to be a head coach anywhere else - navinrjohnson
I would venture that he would have been hired, but ok if you want to go there. At the time there weren't many other viable options, and at least he had a little bit of a pedigree. We all know it was having two of the best players in the world on the same team, but he still won a cup. |

I like winners
the sabres are anything but that under the watch of kim and terry
we have the longest stretch in the nhl of not having a playoff game currently
if we miss the playoffs next season the drought will tie the ALL TIME RECORD
seriously you are defending the owners that are about to break the all time NHL record
the horror and futility of sabres hockey |

we have generational players in eichel and dahlin
a 40 goal scorer in skinner
and can't even come close to 8th in the east, let alone contend for a division
raise your hand if you thought we would not have a playoff game after year 5 of eichel |

And there in lies the difference between Terry and Tom...
Tom the businessman - “breakeven, call me in Rochester if you need anything”
Terry the fan boy - break the bank for mediocre players, throw good money after bad and never put the money where it could do the most good for the team (experienced management). And when he finally lost enough money And drilling another well wouldn’t help, now it’s the “lean” approach. - Gr8daygo
Who was the owner when they lost Drury and Briere on a certain July 1st when he or Darcy decided not to negotiate during the season?
Who kept Darcy Regier around with that God awful drafting for all those years and that rock-solid core when a trade was "hard." It wasn't so rosy under that guy without a hockey Czar. |
|
|
|
If Skinner is being called a 40 goal scorer for one season and labeling him by that, then he is a 14 goal scorer, his most recent record.
They have a 14 goal scorer in Jeff Skinner. |

Skinner on average can score 25-30 goalies a year in his sleep. Pump the breaks on thinking he sucks |

So you are saying terry the fan boy should have hired an experienced, well regarded hockey czar when he bought the team to evaluate and over see said team.... |

fitting for a buffalo franchise |

Ah yes, the "Is Reinhart a 50 or 60 point player"
Average his points together per game and he's a 50 point player. But make sure you include those developmental years that obviously define the future entirety of a man's career.
Or
Take the past 2 seasons for a guy of Reinhart's age, notice the progression, and comfortably state that he had, or projected, 60 the past two seasons and will now be starting his prime years, playing with Jack.
My guess is that haters will choose the damning option and realists will choose the optimistic one.

Great goalpost move. Way to prove Disco wasn't at least a decent hire at the time.
And for the record for now the third time I'm not happy with ownership either. It's pretty easy to pinpoint where they messed up along the way. Disco isn't remotely close to their biggest mistake, so why try to make it bigger then it is. Call it an ok hire that didn't work out.
RoR, needing to move Kane, not picking a lane and sticking with it for more then 3 years. First were a jitter bug team, then we're a western heavy, then we're a tempo team, back to park the bus defense. We don't have an identity. |

Vegas signed Lehner to 5x5.
12M in goalie contracts going into the summer. Brings their cap to 81.6 with 11 (of their top) F's and 6 (of their top) D. Means you need 2Fs and 2D, at the very lowest 2.8M if they're all minimal contracts. Don't remember if league minimum goes up to 750 this or next year. Smart play is trading Fleury, even at half cost.
Or keep him and shed Stastny for a pick. |

They will need to move Fleury. And probably one other contract. The rumor was Pens and Oilers were talking Murray. I wonder if the Oil put a call into Vegas now?

what hire have they made that worked for the sabres?
it's 8 plus years
I probably have time to go work in the fish room for a few hours and kill a bottle before anyone comes up with an answer, because there is no answer
maybe the fan-owners shouldn't be doing the hiring when it comes to coaches and gm's |

See, what you are doing is insane goalpost moving. have the moves worked? No, not really. But your initial complaint was they weren't going after the top of the top. Sorry, that's just not true. Botts was the #1 candidate for GM, PH was one of the hottest coaching commodities out there. If your done moving the target and just say what they've done wrong, it would go so much further. |

Was suggesting Mitts at 1LW. Just something I'd like to see in camp.
Jack + Tage has never looked good. Not a lot of hope there. - Lunaion
Oh,
Mitts with jack and sam.
That's interesting, I'm kinda high olloffson, and low on Casey.
Casey was having a hard time in the ahl last year.
Olloffson could have been in the running for top 3 rookies in the nhl. He also Excelled in the ahl the year before.
Tage seems like a big body that can play in the nhl.
I've watched him, and I think he kinda sucks, but has a better shot of being an nhl regular than mitts or borgen.
Agree to disagree.
Maybe I'm giving to much hope to olloffson.
