Can someone explain to me when the draft and free agency begins? It looks like they are both supposed to start Oct 9. If that's the case, leafs can figure out if they can sign 2 defense before the draft and keep the pick.

I like Zary and Jervis. Seem like leaf picks, some high end skill and room to grow. Never hurts to draft more centers.
