Ya, but you're tied into his 5 mil contract, which fair enough is only one year. If you trade Marky, you're going to want a guy to split games with Demko. I think you could get a guy like that for 3-4 for a couple years.
I'm not completely against it, I just think it's a fairly lateral move, especially since you're letting Tanev go with nothing to replace him. - NewYorkNuck
i'd resign Tanev.
if you can't come to terms with Marky, you could let him walk.
i'm sure they could find another goalie to split duties with Demko that's cheaper/better than Anderson for 5m.

Fire Green, stay with Demko, trade Marky, Myers and LE stay. Trade Petterson/Hughes. - Fidel
that's a lot of draft picks we could recoup.
i'm sure this appeals to some.

Agreed.
I would, however, trade for Andersen if it was Marky + Stetcher. A good goalie coach goes a loooong way to making a goalie, and we have one of the best. I'm sure Andersen would be good with him, and splitting games with Demko would be fine for a year before getting a solid backup. |

Cam Talbot is a UFA, couple years older and similar sv% and GAA, around half the price.
Talbot 2.63 sv% and 0.919 GAA
Anderson 2.85sv % and .909 GAA
Could sign him for 3m/3 years i bet (last year earned 2.75m/year).
i'd still rather Marky > Talbot, but just throwing that out as an example. |

Pretty terrible save percentage but great GAA
The one year on Andersen is nice, but ya, my initial take was to sign a guy to split games with Demko if you move/move on from Marky. Either way, don't really care. |

Vantel would like a first this year more than next.
I’m curious why...(a) the calendar / schedule gap between draft years will be reduced (shorter) between the two years, so less advantage this year, and (b) the scouts lack of opportunity to fully assess this years draft has got to create more uncertainty and risk of a miss on a high draft pick.
I would have thought this would be the right time to look for targeting players on cap-strapped teams and next year for more draft picks.
Obviously more picks are better, but if you are picking only once in the first round this year or next, why this year?

Probably because the scouts have had a chance to assess the players in this upcoming draft. Next year you'll be limited and that's even if the major junior leagues decide to play. Hard to do so if there's going to not be able to have people in attendance as the CHL relies on gate revenue and save for a few teams most are on the brink of bankruptcy anyways. |

Thanks Darius...rational. My thought is that this past season, with most draft-eligible players in leagues which suspended seasons and cancelled their playoffs, it would be difficult to fully assess prospects.
I agree there is a more-than-a-boatload of uncertainty for ‘20-21 as well (despite the NHL plans), so maybe it is a toss. |

I think you both are correct and value draft picks less now so trade them to cap strapped team and upgrade in a position of need.

Junior leagues need to look for network tv coverage to try and stay afloat. |

Yes that's what I was saying. As we know Canucks only have a 3rd. Hope swing for the fences on RSD there if they keep the pick. |

Hedman is looking good too. Isles aren't putting up much of a fight. |

Nice path they have to the Cup if this series stays as physical as this game. Meanwhile Knights and Stars are clobbering one another at every chance. |
