My issue with Demko has always been his confidence. I thought he always had the skills but never trusted his head. That is why his nerves got to him at the beginning or end of the game.

I think he just took a big step. He also won his last game of the regular season . He looked great then too.

Yeah, he certainly has the physical abilities to be a starter. I'm with you, I was surprised and impressed by just how well he handled the opportunity vs. Vegas. It was tough to see him leave game 7 pissed at himself considering the week he had.

If he gets his confidence he has the skills to back it up.

Personally having watched the last 2 seasons and the quality of goaltending the team has gotten, I'm just of the opinion why change what's working so well?
- NorthNuck

I think the goaltending has been outstanding, but I think they need spend the money and resources to relying less on it. The two rounds this year just wore them out defending all the time. Game 7 was a valiant effort but the skaters looked like they had nothing left in the tank

But they're contenders.

Please give us all your prediction Swami

Maybe finishing 28th?

An improved bottom 6 to help generate energy and another top 4 Dman would have helped greatly for sure.

If they move on from Markstrom, I think there is an abundance of goalies available that I would look at bringing in to compete with Demko, so to not simply hand him the job. Aside from the UFA's I've read some pieces on a few teams looking to trade so they can make runs for others

Totally agree, don't get handcuffed again.

I really don’t get what people see in Podkolzin, he looks like a bull in a china shop North/South winger, he’s Leo Komarov basically.

Maybe not as entertaining

Demko played 3 great games, he needs more time as a backup/1b. Toffoli was great and should be brought back unless he prices himself out.
- NorthNuck

Sometimes they need to be thrown in the fire. Look at Carter Hart. He’s had the odd slump but he’s a gamer.
Edit: with today’s goaltending style I believe you need a good tandem. There are other options to pair with him.

Honestly, I'd prefer we sign and trade Marky to a team that needs a goalie and has the assets to give up a 1RHD... like Nashville perhaps. Fabbro would look REALLY good on our blueline right now.

I like how he directly compared his impact to Tuch's; when not in a top-6 role you can still be effective. I cannot see him back next year, Drance projecting arbitration will award him $3 million which is money better spent elsewhere

He's definitely not coming back. I don't think there's much "potential" people are waiting on any more. He's the best trade chip the Canucks have, would be great to see him packaged for a good young RHD

The armchair gms will be disapointed
Benning said the flat cap was league wide not just a Canuck cap and that they have plenty of cap space for the moves they want to make. Bloody shocking haha

Count on OJ and Chatfield next year

I saw a quote from Benning that he wasn't interesting in paying picks to lose money. I could see Virtanen being the "sweetener". Eriksson and Virtanen to Ottawa, calling it

That's what i've been interested in too.

Package some younger player of value along with a vet to free up some salary to resign Marky, TT and Tanev.
Also free's up some roster space for younger players.

win/win.

Trade JV with Sutter/Beagle/Sven/LE/Ferland/Pearson/Benn

Agree with everything, except Tanev.
Such a good partner for Hughes (on and off the ice), i'd be surprised if they walk away from him.
