its called stirring conversation you social misfit.

they are not his team, they were in place prior. How hard is that to comprehend?

If you want to talk about Fletcher then do that, this was about hextall. Those 3 "tweaks" you mention played a major role in the success they had this season. It allowed the defense not to be thrown to the wolves unlike prior years. Nah they were tweaks. Tweaks that the prior GM never made

They are his team. How blockheaded can you honestly be.

Hextall extended Couturier, Voracek, Ghost, Raffl, Laughton and Hagg

That means he chose to keep these guys therefore making them part of HIS TEAM. The only one he is stuck with is Giroux because of NMC.

The whole purpose of mentioning Fletcher was to show that he kept Hextall's team together.

Braun did not play a major role on this team at all........

The whole point of the argument was to get through your thick skull that Hextall did good things for this team which is why the majority of them are still on Fletcher's team.

disagree. When you have those 2 you will always have a shot imo.

Nah. When they won, they had deep teams surrounding them. Now these guys are older and have a lot of miles on them. There’s been injury, and finally a taste of failure.

They’re still terrific, don’t get me wrong, but that team does not have the pieces, even with two of the greatest players in their generation

I was in that camp but they are a year older, the league is faster and more skilled, AGAIN. Their plan has been to contend for the cup and they could prior years knowing they had Sid and Geno. I think they are past that point, partly because of them being older but mostly because of all the talent in the NHL.

Maybe so, BUT there was a mutiny and they achieved success without him. Lots of success.

when someone is on a team prior to ones arrival they are not part of the new arrivals team. They are called holdovers. This a simple fact that cant be denied.

Braun absolute played a crucial role. you can choose not to believe that which it is clear that you do.

Except he did, you orget he inherited a massive cap issue when he took over. When he finally was able to clear that up he made a move to help the team take the next step adding JVR to help scoring and fill a gap at LW. It might not have been the correct move but to say he didnt do anything is absurd.

The same fans who are complaining that Hextall did nothing complained about the short term moves that he did make such as with Fillpula. Blockheads.

drafting is only 1 part of being an NHL GM.

Sure, but I’m talking about a struggling franchise with very little going for it. One with zippy in the farm. That’s what the Flyers were.

I’d take 4-5 years of that guy rebuilding, I don’t care how much he micromanaged.

From there you can decide if he’s the one to finish the job, or if someone else is. Regardless, he’s gonna have you in a hell of a lot better place than you were.

In fact, I’ll bet you anything he’s got a team that you’re excited about and will be tuning in to watch. And THAT is also an important part of being a GM. Ticket sales, viewership, excitement.

If you want to name him head of drafting or whatever the title is I think is a more appropriate role for him.

It is when an entire culture needs to change. One that stops adding band-aids just to remain relevant once in awhile, while paying exorbitant salaries to mediocre players and having to settle for 4th line goons in response. The West hasn’t been using goons on the 4th line for over a decade at that point, and those who were picked guys who could actually skate and contribute in other factors.

The Flyers were an old machine in need of a tuneup from the top down.

The worst place you can be as an NHL team is be good but not good enough and up against the cap. The Flyers are in danger of getting in that spot if Scott keeps pushing his mandate.

The reasons why the Blue Jackets won the series: a relentless forecheck, tight defensive play, an improved power play and strong goaltending. Bobrovsky had a .940 save percentage coming into Game 4 and stopped 30-of-33 in the finale.

The Lightning lost it because their top players didn’t step up until Game 4. Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson only combined for two goals in the four games. That foursome scored 156 goals in the regular season. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy wasn’t at his best. Defenseman Victor Hedman was hurt. The Lightning weren’t the same team we saw throughout the season

The Flyers have definite issues. They’re not a direct parallel to last season’s Lightning, but there’s enough similarities to remain calm & see what Fletcher does to address those issues.

I wasnt a huge fan of Fillpula. I would have preferred someone with more offensive upside but he was definitely better than nothing. He did everyhing else on the ice pretty well. Even if Patrick was ready he'd be perfect for the 3rd line.

At the same time though Hextall was rumoured to be after Stastny as well so as far as C position is concerned he may have made an attempt to get him, failed and by then it was too late.

The Devils hired Mark Recchi to run their PP. They will prob win the Cup with him behind the bench. He wins wherever he goes right?

I couldn’t remember my old user name so I had to remake one. It’s been years since I wanted to post, health problems and kids and whatnot.

Probably 10 years ago I was a regular poster for a short period of time

I know Therrien is good friends with AV, but if he’s fired (praying he is), who would you be in interested as our next PP coach?

Keeps pushing? That’s actually what happened the second hexy was fired. Hexy layed the plan out. It wasn’t go time like he said. This playoff proves that. This team should’ve started to turn roster over this year. Instead of trading picks away for bruan and nisky. But hey Comcast you got a playoff series win against a team that shouldn’t have been there to begin with. Pat yourselves on the back and keep pushing g and Jake and jvr. Why not

If it wasn't "go time" what was the purpose of Hextall signing Van Riemsdyk?

Do you think anyone on this board would be capable of having the PP fire at 0% clip over the course of a 7 game series?
