I really don’t think we need huge changes. As Giroux said, I like this team. People are so quick to forget how good we played as a team in the regular season just because we lost to the Isles. A couple of tweaks and I think we are fine.

Agreed - plus all the kids got a nice helping of playoff experience in an additionally challenging scenario. This will benefit them greatly in the future.

The Flyers have definite issues. They’re not a direct parallel to last season’s Lightning, but there’s enough similarities to remain calm & see what Fletcher does to address those issues.

Welcome back. It's also an indication that top players can struggle in the playoffs and rebound in following seasons.

So the reality is they are not going to do much, of which i tend to agree. It will come internally unless some magic is made.

To get that sniper they will have to give to get and many wont like the give imo.

I think Fletcher is willing to make a splash. Just need to make sure it doesn't go to fantasy land level. It would probably require multiple moves to bring a high dollar player. After they sign the players they want they will only have $3-4mil left over.

I am open to trading a few of the players on this roster. Outside of moving Ghost I don't think you will get a return that helps the team right now.

Jake shouldn’t be moved imo. Sure he struggled against the Isles but the whole team did. I don’t think we win MTL series without Jake’s points and effort.
- arichardson22

I don’t see how this team justifies bringing back both Giroux and Voracek, as they come off an average to below average playoffs and as they crawl closer to their mid 30’s. In fact G and Jake didn’t have the best regular season to their own standards.Carter and Richards were much younger before management had enough. How do we move Jake? I don’t know but it doesn’t mean you don’t try. We were definitely too heavily reliant on the Couturier line, just to see little to no results.

Make no mistake, Giroux and Voracek aren’t on a Stamkos, Kucherov or Point level.

If this is true I imagine he signs with Tampa Boston vegas

Quote didn’t work. Hall signing for contender.

Washington Pitt Avs and Dallas would be my backups.

If the Flyers can trade Jake and get Coots/Voracek level player or Simmonds/Schenn as a return I am all for it. They won't get that though. Kucherov and Point are great players. Stamkos is no longer great.

Jake was great against MTL. 4 goals maybe? But as mentioned, the whole damn team struggled against the Isles. They didn’t need to have a crazy regular season because we finally showed team depth and spread out scoring from all lines. Scoring wealth was nicely spread out this year. That’s what good depth does. Are there that many players who are Kucherov or Point lol? Not sure why guys want to trade our two best playmakers who can also score. We take steps back without these two because no trade will work that much in our favor

Sorry I miss read the first time. You can retain cap hit. It would be the same for each of the remaining years of the contract. The Leafs retained $1.2mil when they traded Kessell. You can retain up to 50% of the annual cap hit.
- mickel25

so you cant retain actual cash then?

No you can't hand them a bunch of cash. It has to be cap dollars.

trading jvr or jake will require taking back money as well; as cant see any other way assuming they don't retain any money as very few teams have space.

The ones that do will likely find better players than what the flyers have to offer. Ghost i think being a dman will have value and can probably be moved. Just dont expect much

The reality in my view is that sometimes NHL GM's make surprising deals. However the odds of either Voracek or Giroux being traded are very, very slim. Both are going to be back for next season.

Im appalled that Lindblom did not win. I dont care that the voting was done before he made his return. They guy had cancer, went into remission and was skating with the team and brought into the bubble. To me that is a lot more impressive than completing rehab....

Good question. For starters, we’d have to send some money back since his cap is 6.4M. I would start the offer with our 1st along with Ghost or JVR. Do we need to add a B or C prospect? Does Calgary need to offer more? I know he had a down year with 48 points and -16 so not sure where his value is at

I think we’ve seen that last of Jake. I think we are stuck with JVR. Giroux isn’t going anywhere. No clue what to do with Ghost.

I think Oskar is the nominee and winner NEXT season. That is truly when he will be returning as a full time NHL player (hopefully)
