Welcome back. It's also an indication that top players can struggle in the playoffs and rebound in following seasons.

You have been saying this since 2012 about G.... When is he going to turn it around in the playoffs? He isn't going too. He isn't a playoff type leader!

I don’t see how this team justifies bringing back both Giroux and Voracek, as they come off an average to below average playoffs and as they crawl closer to their mid 30’s. In fact G and Jake didn’t have the best regular season to their own standards.Carter and Richards were much younger before management had enough. How do we move Jake? I don’t know but it doesn’t mean you don’t try. We were definitely too heavily reliant on the Couturier line, just to see little to no results.

Make no mistake, Giroux and Voracek aren’t on a Stamkos, Kucherov or Point level.

At the very least stop playing them together, it makes for a slow plodding line.

Good question. For starters, we’d have to send some money back since his cap is 6.4M. I would start the offer with our 1st along with Ghost or JVR. Do we need to add a B or C prospect? Does Calgary need to offer more? I know he had a down year with 48 points and -16 so not sure where his value is at

Have we started silly season where we trade all of our unwanted parts for other teams top players?

Really don't have any other choice but to hope both get better next time the playoffs role around.

Calgary blogger posted thread on Sean Monahan trading suitors. It’s he’s on the block, I hope Fletcher is involved. He can score.
- arichardson22

i'd go for him if we can't pry other players away a 1 - 2 punch of coots and monahan might be interesting with 1 sniper in the mix

that is a horrible strategy for aging players. Young guys absolutely.

They do have a choice. That choice may cost though.

Im appalled that Lindblom did not win. I dont care that the voting was done before he made his return. They guy had cancer, went into remission and was skating with the team and brought into the bubble. To me that is a lot more impressive than completing rehab....
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

A self inflicted weakness is apparently more impressive to recover from than a life threatening disease that Lindblom was tragically unlucky to be diagnosed with.

The Flyers aren't going to trade Giroux. It's that simple. If they attempt to trade Voracek and his contract, they're going to get a similar player from another team with a high cap hit in a swap of players each team is ready to move on from.

I mean we can have a discussion and not be rude? I asked valid questions regarding his value and presented a deal that works cap wise. 1st and Ghost isn’t a bad package. Aren’t you one of the bigger fans of Ghost too? It’s not like I said hey let’s do JVR straight up.

I think we’ve seen that last of Jake. I think we are stuck with JVR. Giroux isn’t going anywhere. No clue what to do with Ghost.
- black_francis

Play him and put him back on the top PP unit. The Flyers PP or lack of one is one of the main contributing factors to getting bounced by the Islanders. JvR is either expansion draft (probably too pricey) or a buy out in a couple seasons. Jake has some speed and skill and years left IMO. Giroux just looks cooked.

Thanks, Bill, for all your work providing Flyers coverage! You said Fletcher is tentatively scheduled to meet with the media Thursday. Will there be another with the coaches?

I agree 99.9% clode isn't going anywhere. Jake all bets are off.
I am all for a change of scenery deal; depending on said deal.

If you're looking to remain competitive, Voracek isn't going anywhere. And with a coach fresh off his first season, one in which he was a Jack Adams finalist, Flyers won't be looking to shed the big names. Ghost mivht be as big of a name of a name you see dealt.

It's really simple. If you want a top young player from another team then you're going to have to give up a top young player from your team. Why would they want JVR? Gostisbehere's value is not exactly high right now.

To be fair this is a horrible way to frame Ryan's issues. I think he's been somewhat open and honest about his mental struggles and depression stemming from his childhood. Alcohol is more of a symptom in this scenario. To frame mental health issues as "a self inflicted weakness" just perpetuates the lack of seriousness that is given to mental health issues over all and something that needs to end.

I fully support Oskar and all that he's gone through but even he probably wouldn't agree with belittling the struggles of another.

Did you not see I also included our 2021 1st round pick? Calgary is looking to shake things up and their core hasn’t gotten it done (similar to ours). A fully healthy Ghost was a high point producing d Man; both players are coming off down years. “It’s simple”, you don’t have to be an bumhole regardless of what you think of the offer lol

A first is not enough. The throw ins don't make it enough. Pointing out the blatantly obvious is not being an bumhole. Monahan has been a consistent goal scorer and points producer. Think including some combination including one or more of Konecny, Farabee, Sanheim, Lindblom, draft picks and prospects. Then you'll have a good start.

There's a fair amount of UFA goalies this year, but I hope they re-sign Elliott.

Tk + for Monahan would be an overpayment
