Trade everybody for everybody else!
- MBFlyerfan

I’m willing to give this current core another run, hopefully another year under some young guys belts makes a difference. Playing their absolute worst getting one win away from ECF. Just get rid of the third pairing D please, Braun looked like his legs were quivering trying to keep up.

Parise is older and has a longer term than Voracek. Both have similiar production, I just don't see the point. You're only saving a little less than a million on the cap.

It's the age and cap hit for me.

Minnesota needs more scoring and a first line center, I don't see Voracek solving their problems

- Streit2ThePoint

These are the type of deals that may be available if jake is moved. That is all i am saying. Going to have to be money/term coming back. Just my take.

Maybe Parise is a better fit?

Suggesting a 1st round pick with a young mobile scoring dman while also asking what needs to be added isn’t silly. It’s a discussion. You argue about the dumbest poop day in and day out whether it’s politics or how big you think your Richard is. Yet call this “silly season”. How ironic.
- arichardson22

Well, when people start putting forth stupid trade proposals that neither work out cap wise, or make sense for the other team, then yes, people deserve to be called silly.

TK just had a career year, why are we looking to trade him. Jake is not likely to go anywhere. I disagree that teams wouldnt want him or his contract, he is a top player in the league however a trade is pretty much pointless because unless you are trading for D or a G. Trading Voracek is mostly just a lateral move unless your packaging him for an upgrade or taking back picks and prospects.

Jake and G aren’t going anywhere. Gonna have to just assume we ride those deals out.

Ghost may get picked up in the expansion draft. My guess is Seattle takes either him or Hägg.

You might be able to convince Seattle to take JvR if

a) you retain a piece of the cap hit
b) you throw in a higher pick
c) you throw in a decent prospect. Someone promising like Zamula.

They will want at least 2 of the 3 above.

Seattle should have the ability to absorb a player like JvR considering they won’t be on the hook for too many high salaries, but you’re definitely going to have to make it worth their while. We saw Vegas do that a bunch, and it really worked to their advantage. It didn’t look like it at the time (it really didn’t), but they made out like bandits with their smart wheeling and dealing.

Im appalled that Lindblom did not win. I dont care that the voting was done before he made his return. They guy had cancer, went into remission and was skating with the team and brought into the bubble. To me that is a lot more impressive than completing rehab....

Jake was great against MTL. 4 goals maybe? But as mentioned, the whole damn team struggled against the Isles. They didn’t need to have a crazy regular season because we finally showed team depth and spread out scoring from all lines. Scoring wealth was nicely spread out this year. That’s what good depth does. Are there that many players who are Kucherov or Point lol? Not sure why guys want to trade our two best playmakers who can also score. We take steps back without these two because no trade will work that much in our favor
- arichardson22

I don’t think we showed “good team depth” until AV began to create it. That JvR, Grant, Pitlick or NAK third line was as bad as any line I’ve ever seen.

Someone asked what it would take to land Monahan. I suggested a rough trade while asking what else would need to be added and what Monahan’s value is after a down year. That’s a discussion. Not a silly proposal. The deal also worked out cap wise. People are acting like I said would JVR for Monahan straight up work

If the Flyers can trade Jake and get Coots/Voracek level player or Simmonds/Schenn as a return I am all for it. They won't get that though. Kucherov and Point are great players. Stamkos is no longer great.

I was just referring to our regular season with our depth. Our scoring depth (and regular scoring) certainly didn’t show up in the isles series. Unless I’m just making a mistake, I don’t remember that line being a regular season one (it’s been a while)

Is it the annual trade Giroux part of the year?
- Streit2ThePoint

Question... Normally the GM has a press conference after the season with the intent of saying who's hurt, who was playing hurt, who needs surgery. Did Fletcher do that, or have it scheduled.

The only thing that would partly excuse Giroux (and others) performance would be a nagging injury.

So stating in a discussion that what you suggested is not a realistic trade proposal, can't be part of the discussion? That young mobile scoring defenseman has been struggling in and out of the lineup for two years now and was recent healthy scratch in the playoffs. The other player you suggested is a player who is signed to high cap hit contract and is also a player who is up and down. Arguing or discussing that is certainly not dumb poop. If anything is dumb poop, it's your trade proposal.

NHL seems toast anyway, with this flat salary cap. Tampa can win every year with their FL tax bargain roster. Tampas competitor's can't add enough quality, to challenge them.
- Landsbergfan

No team with that same "advantage" has won a Stanley Cup since the cap was instituted. That's 15 years of data.

If you draft well and sign the right players you are fine. See the Blackhawks, Pens, Bruins, Kings. All have played for or won the Cup on multiple occasions in the past decade. None have the tax bargain.

With all that said I am not against leveling that off. I just don't think it is as big a factor as others do.

I would very interested in seeing how you would approach this off season.
What would you look to do in terms of fixing the weaknesses on the team?
What would your plan

ah the classic I can do no wrong MJL. Lol I didn’t even offer a full proposal! It was an open ended question what would Need to be added. Learn how to read. At least I stick to hockey and don’t shove my opinion when it’s not needed or welcomed.

- 2Real

Just to be clear, you’re not downplaying alcoholism recovery, right? It’s just that you think cancer is a bigger deal? A lot of people have no control over drinking when they start, and that’s a very difficult thing to overcome. I can understand screaming “but, but CANCER, you morons!!” at the voters, but wait just one sec...

Now of course, I wanted Lindblom to win, too, but I think their reasoning is that he gets it gift wrapped to him with a bow next year. He only came back for two games in the post season, and by that time voting was in

So when he officially comes back playing full time next season, it’s his. He will have come full circle, and will now be officially back on the ice.

If he doesn’t get it next time, we’ll then he’ll I have no idea what to tell you other than thats bullpoop, and I’ll be right next to you with my hands in the air saying “but, but CANCER, you morons!”
