Remember that cool motorcycle rally in South Dakota? A new study estimates $12B in Covid related health care costs from resulting spread. I sure hope everybody got laid.

Can't be another left sided D. Rielly, Muzzin, and Sandin are locked and loaded.

Pesce would be purrrrfect.

Yes I would. For the Canes to retain half his salary... might as well just sign Gudas or DeMelo. Both would be better than the Return of the Gardiner.
- Steven_Seagull

Gudas in Tampa was worse than Gardiner imo but his dumb penalties seem to have gone down.

They took Marleau off our hands so it doesn't hurt to consider Gardiner as a cheap 5 - 6 D if the offer is ok.
- Leafsandbolts

as long as there is a 1st coming back with Gardiner, I'm ok with that.

Based on what he said in the article(below specifically), he appears to be amenable to taking a lower salary with the Leafs. I dont think we need 2016 Simmonds, somewhere in between and giving us some grit. He could play up and down the lineup when required.

Way too rich, the irony only gets better after some reflection.

The Leafs were a last place team. The Leafs are a last place team.

Matthews is not McDavid or Eichal or perhaps, even Laine or Puljujarvi. Yet Leaf fans have created this huge expectation around a kid that was not nearly the force of the Finns on the big stages of international hockey last year.

Not sure why the Leafs have delayed in signing him to a contract. Perhaps they think he is going to need some AHL development time. Nobody is hoping against Matthews, he should be a good player. But, there is absolutely nothing in his track record that suggests he will be an impact player in the NHL next year. Perhaps, there is a fatal flaw in the Leaf charism. If Matthews is put out head to head against veteran NHL centres every night and fans expect him to outperform all comers it is going to be a very long and disappointing winter for the blue and white.

I understand the importance of the summer season for Leaf fans. It is an opportunity to renew hope and create a bond with the team in the belief that next year will see the Leafs finally triumph. It is the Oiler model of a few years ago that had Yakupov (like Matthews, an older profile draft pick) dominating scoring in future NHL seasons or RNH being the slickest centre to come along in years.

Always keep in mind the notion that "we are different," is something that is really well understood. We know Matthews is not McDavid, not even close. We want to believe that he is better than Yakupov. Likely he is in the same range as RNH, but he will likely struggle to produce numbers as good as RNH got in his rookie year (18 goals, 34 assists in 64 games).

Imagine being this stupid and this wrong and still having the audacity to show your face around these parts.

Should've just cut-bait on this site and be stupid elsewhere.

The thing about stupid is that you don’t know that you’re stupid. I pride myself on not falling into that trap.

I’m pretty sure Spatso would argue at great length about how he’s right on every point.

Mostly fine but kind of a mixed bad. Biggest thing is he seemed really tentative most of the time. Like he was afraid of making a mistake? When he opened it up he was pretty good, but he seemed like he didn't want the puck most of the time.

Wayne Simmonds.

In.

Also, why do we hate Holl so much? He looks fine with Muzzin, they were really good together before Muzz got hurt.

- gravyface

Holl is just fine, I just don't like his deal that's kicking in. Imo, another Dubas overpay.

With Dallas's owner having his struggling tourism businesses and his hockey team...Think Dallas would entertain Rielly for Klingberg? Probably a fantasy trade but the Leafs save 850K in cap while Dallas saves 2 Million in actual dollars.

Hieskanen gets to be the top RHD and rightfully so.

Leafs get a top pairing RHD. Then you can really look into the affordable secondary market for LHD to play with Holl like Brodin, Ghost, Dunn.

Muzzin-Klingberg
Ghost-Holl
Sandin-Lehtonen

Would be a Subban/Weber type trade but makes some sense although likely won't happen. But Subban for Weber was very unlikely too.
