Holl is just fine, I just don't like his deal that's kicking in. Imo, another Dubas overpay.
- leafsfann

Agreed.
Hes a 5-6 dman

2M for a top 4 tweener is an overpay?
- gravyface

Hes not a top 4.
Better suited as 5-6.
Hope im wrong as we are stuck with him for (edit) 3 years.

Holl is a top 4 dman the same way Bozak was a first line centre for the buds. It's not a huge overpay, but still a bit of one.

Hardly seems like an overpay at $2M

My problem is he played about half a season playing steady minutes and we have him 2m per season , doesnt seem like he earned that to me. Maybe 1-1.5M tops IMO

He wouldn't have gotten 2M anywhere else

It's fine if he remains our 4th best defender. Holl being our 4th best defender is the problem, though.

If he does it again(playing 2nd pairing mins and preforming well) he's worth 3 million.

It'd be great if Dubas could just sign every player for less than they are worth but it doesn't work like that.

All these great contacts we want the Leafs to trade for were signed when there was uncertainty of their potential.

Holl as our 4th best D is more than fine. Need to get someone better to have that happen though.

Agreed. The third year, or the extra 500k is what I'm looking at. If Sandin and Lilybust become regular or something in the next year or two (which is the hope, right?), Holl is our 6th best defenseman.

If he can keep playing like he has that 2M contract will be a steal.

There is a good possibility the Leafs have a real good value contract there.

It's a big if for a guy whose going on 29 and has only played 1 season as a regular. I hope it is a good value. Holl being the 4th hear defenseman is part of the problem with this team, though.

About 800 to 1m too much for a 3rd line dman

He played 2nd pairing mins and preformed very well.

Get past that he wasn't the best NHLer a few years ago because it doesn't matter.

You don't get Scott Mayfield contracts by signing a player who had 5 consecutive years of good hockey.

You get them by taking a chance on them and signing them to 3-4 years.

Played 2nd line mins and preformed well against good competition.

Doesn't sound like a 3rd pairing d no matter how many times you say it.

He played half a season, why give him 2M. Can't imagine another team giving a player that spent most of his career in the AHL 2M. I know it's not that bad, just a slight overpay IMO

I hope you guys are right, because it feels more like a bottom pairing overpay than a second pairing steal.

Nice. I miss my hardtail mtb. Just the road bike now. I want to get one of these new gravel bikes.
