that would be 4 first round picks...for an OS

too steep, the highest for a 6 year deal would be 8.75 ..to only cost

2 First Round Picks
1 Second Round Pick
1 Third Round Pick

I think, from all the intel that was out there, that Columbus approached Marners people with an offer sheet. He turned it down.

I'd think they'd be in on Barzal. 5 x 8.75. Bergevin should be too. Barzal can pick his spot and Lou probably matches. That's a pretty good deal though for the Isles. But they'd need to juggle some contracts to make room.

Leafs - how about a 4 x 4.2 offer sheet for Weegar or Cernak? And load both up with bonuses. Tampa would match but again would have to do some juggling. Maybe Florida would have to work out a trade?

Who the heck is going to take on MAF for 7M for 2 more years.??

Maybe you're right, maybe we are underestimating how much Lehner wants. Maybe he wants a Bobrovsky deal. 8 or 9 million over 7 years. He MIGHT get it but that's too rich for the Leafs and Vegas.
- Aaron_85

Subject to dealing Nylander or Marner the Leafs only real options in goal are to keep Freddy for one more year (and he probably walks next summer) OR finding a replacement that is cheaper and on-par (or better).

That's it. Leafs can't afford a big dollar goalie (north of 5+) if they plan to keep the Big 4 together and improve their defense.

The Vegas writer for the athletic just had a really good article on what’s happening and the workarounds to keep him there.

Some of it does include trading MAF And either retaining 2 mil or adding a piece.

Perhaps even buying him out.

He says Robin wants stability with how it went in Chicago and on the island.

That is essentially my view point as well. I don't know who's the same for cheaper and at a reasonable asset cost to bring in.

Also, it might seem low but we have no idea on his ask, but I'd offer Lehner 5 x 5 and see if the term helps make up his mind. Also, it could all virtually be in signing bonus so it's all paid and noone has to worry about league shut down due to covid if a resurgence happens.

Barzal's contract will be worth 80million.
8x10mln AAV or 7x11.5mln AAV.
He's there with Matthews-Marner-Barkov-Eichel-MacKinnon-Pettersson of young FWs in the slot just below McDavid.

It sounds like (and makes total sense) that is exactly what they want to do.

Can't imagine a team is taking his full salary/cap hit though.

Vegas can eat 2-3 million and suddenly it's interesting.

- The Law

this is where the Leafs say remember when we help you out with that Lehner trade
now is time to return the favor.

I feel like that would be tough for them to do with their cap constraints and then resign Lehner for a decent amount.

Vegas is pretty tight with the cap, worse than the leafs atm

they need to make some magic happen. Teams should really not help good teams out of bad spots.

Love the fact Krug is pretty much saying he's looking for his payday. Good for him. Tough to do it now but not his fault covid happened.

I like a player pretty much stating that.

My fantasy teams aren't great this year. I did get Lamar Jackson again though in my main league so there's that.

Retain 2 million on MAF + pay Lehner 6 or 7 + have a back up goalie. It's going to be 8 to 10 million in goalies on a cap strapped team.

They need to move Martinez hopefully.

I was considering keeping Jackson but I'm praying for a regression and more throwing to Hollywood

Ended up keeping Aaron Jones and the Chubbster

doesnt make a lot of sense to me to retain on MAF and then sign another 6-7mil
2+6+backup

also, it costs the leafs 1 first to move PM with 1 season at 6 mil
has to be close to the same for MAF with 2 seasons left.

buyout is 2.5, 3, 2, 2 cap hits

Im hoping Baltimore just keeps running Jackson down the throats of opponents! He's essentially my best back too.

My top 3 are Jackson, Tyreek Hill and Mark Andrews. We do an auction/salary draft. A couple guys got away from me and I should have bid more on Barclay.

Doubt Columbus will be in anything close to a spending mood. The owner is stable but not ultra rich, net worth around $100 Million. Not deep pockets like many other owners. No gates receipts, and really limited local TV money will make this team one that watches rather than participates in free agent season IMO.

I agree with you. I don't know how Vegas moves MAF but like others say here, it's what they want to do.

If I were Vegas I would have no issue going into the season with MAF again and making another deal at the deadline to acquire another Lehner if MAF doesn't do well OR you have a young enough back up to help tandem through the season.

he's 47th in the NHL in points over the last two seasons, tied with Jake Voracek and Anze Kopitar.

If you go by points per game (minimum 100 games played) he's 56th, behind Torey Krug, Alex Radulov, etc.

He's a really good player and he's only 23, but he also hasn't been QUITE the offensive wizard he was his first year.
