Depends.

Guhle is projected to go around 22 on mynhldraft.ca

I'd trade down to 19/20 for him.

- Santo_44

draftsite.com has got him at 15 to the Leafs.

So I assume he'll go around or in between those placements.

Askarov will be gone by pick #15 IMO. So the next goalie is expeted to go in round 3
(Jan Bednar). Georgiev is low hanging fruit, after the Leafs trade Andersen, they should get Georgiev. Unless Lundqvist retires, Rangers will probably move Georgiev.

I just read they probably buy him out

I was looking at that a lot when I thought the Isles pick would be around 20 (hoping he'd slip).

I think the 3 teams that could grab him before 15 would be:

- buffalo reaching at 8
- Carolina at 13
- Edmonton at 14

just my opinion, but I think the leafs best option at 15 would be Guhle, kid looks REALLY good. big, can put up points but excels in the defensive end, lots of comparisons to Parayko.

- sensarmy_11

I agree with those. Was thinking the same about them.

Are you implying we don't have the assets to acquire another first? Not sure we could get one for Freddie, maybe, but certainly have a forward or 2 that could fetch a first + if KD has the appetite to free up CAP space in that manner. AJ and Kerfoot are not going to get us much in the way of high picks.

I still think Carolina is an intriguing trade partner both for Fred and a forward

This only works if you're taking back salary. Canes are going to be looking to cut some underperforming guys (Niederreiter, Dzingel)

My boy.

I sincerely hope they can get him. Even though they'd still need another stopgap goalie for a couple years.

This would save the NYR $1.5 million in cap hit. They still get hit $5.5 million this year and $1.5 million next year. Plus Georgiev is an RFA and will get a significant raise. Add the $6+ million cap hit in 20-21 for the Shattenkirk buyout and things are interesting.

No chance, too many teams above the Leafs need a goalie. Goalies in the first round are a crap shoot.

or worse.

Yeah, everyone knows taking a goalie in the first round is a high-risk play.

i think they've got enough prospects elsewhere though that it's worth the risk.

If that happens I imagine the Leafs try to sign him to split with Campbell.

I have this suspicion that is the direction the Leafs go in goal this year if Anderson is moved out. Bring in a reclamation project/has been goalie to split with Campbell and hope one of them catches fire.

So true. Does Pat seriously think the Hurricanes wouldnt have to add a bit more for a #1 goalie

Andersen would easily net Pesce + 2nd round pick, 13th overall

Anyone think Rasmus Andersonn can be had out of CGY?

Gio, Hanfin, Andersonn and if they resign Brodie they go into the expansion draft needing to protect 4 D.

Not saying Andersonn is the guy they should trade but he would bring more back than Hanfin and they aren't far off from each other.

How the hell does Corey Pronman have the Leafs in the top 6 for prospects?

Am I missing something?
