And Mr. Pronman has Buffalo at 5. Yeah.. Buffalo, and he had the nerve to title his on-going piece the "2020 NHL Organizational Rankings", which to the un-initiated might seem like he is saying that the Sabres are the 5th best organization in hockey.
- Doc_Sarcasm

I'm bracing myself for him to name the Leafs #1, and then in the body of the piece admit that he's just trolling us.

No, really.

I'm bracing for it.

I can’t see how they can possibly let Lehner go now and if he hits the market I don’t see how we can afford him.
- Canada Cup

Growing up in Gothenburg, he dreamed of playing for the Leafs?

Worked out ok, went to the cup finals!

Cup finals - did he win or was it a soiled kleenex in the trash can? Kovalchuk is getting $250K a year until the 2024-25 season from NJ. It's the vacuum cleaner that keeps sucking.

How did that approach work out with Kovalchuk in NJ?
- winsix

If that deal didn't fall through it would have been the most cap circumventing deal in history...also he was a veteran.

Would be his 2nd stint as a Leaf too, so its like he'd come back to his old stomping grounds... I'm sure he had a memorable 8 minutes as a Leaf.

I've been reading his stuff for a few years now, and I have to say that I'm really not a fan.

Also, in Dom Luszczyszyn's column on the Top UFA's in The Athletic, he has Barrie coming in at slightly over 7M/per. He also quotes Evolving Hockey as saying basically the same thing. What say you all?

they doo look better

so lets say 50% more....3x3 mil?

- senstroll

holl didn't have a long enough track record to ask for much.

3-3.5m x 3 seems reasonable to me for weeger.

his charts look better than pesce; seems like a decent enough guideline. also, looks like weeger might be a decent pker'.

I hope he's right.

Just not for the Leafs.

Barrie would look great in an orange sweater...

My fearless prediction is that players will be getting about 60% of what they would normally get. It's going to be a bloodbath for UFAs.

It would not shock me if there is no silly season this year with free agents simply because of the cash crunch that a lot of the teams are going through.

Some of the low end players will get 60%. High end players and guys like Barrie will do just fine. Pietrangelo isn't signing for 6 million anywhere because of the flat cap.

I have no interest in resigning Clifford and giving up a 2nd rounder(upgraded from a 3rd) to do so.

You never know with Gms...

But ya, you have to believe that top line revenues are going to be decimated across the league. I imagine a lot of teams' cash budgets are getting slashed for this upcoming year.

I can't see Barrie getting a raise.

The thing I keep thinking about is the uncertainty surrounding the 2020-21 season. Nobody seems to want to talk about that.

Will there even be a season? All Canadian division? How many games?

I just don't think it's financially viable for half the franchises to play without ticket sales.

NBC is adamant that the season will have to end by the third week of July.

Are companies really going to re-up on luxury boxes in non-traditional markets?

I see a lot of teams not spending anything next year - just basically hoping to survive until things get back to "normal" - which won't happen for a while.

Yeah, sorry to be such a downer.

In this case, I think it has a lot less to do with the GMs, than a mandate from above and an internal salary cap. I mean, given a free rein and no salary cap, GMs would be super silly indeed. If there's no silly season, it will be because of the bean counters, not because the GMs are suddenly embracing fiscal sanity.

I do not think Simmonds is worth signing. I think he would be horrid as a leaf with their style and at some point the wheels just fall off a guy. I prefer Spezza for the old vet player as he plays center at least.
