Then why do people want to re-sign him? LA is the one place I could see him taking less money due to family circumstances. - Pacificgem
I want him here if the price is right and term is not too long.
Again teams will be moving contracts because this is a special year. GMs have to do their homework.
If you can get a Fluery for 3.5 -4 mil or Johnson from the Leafs then go that route . Signing long term costly contracts to UFAs should be the last resort.

Then how do you think hockey starts in Dec?
Do you think the borders will be open then?

Boston also looking at cutting, or at least letting go of some high-priced free agents |

He would fit perfectly in there . Brings them close to the floor and actual cap hit is 5 mil for the two years. |

Truthfully it is about time. You look at TORs contracts it is nuts. |

I have heard Buffalo's name as one of the teams trying to sell. You look at their roster and it looks like they are trying to move all contracts and come in with an AHL roster. |

Look at their football team wanting to split home games with Toronto; WTF? Now their hockey team is in shambles. Buffalo is doomed. |

Most of those northern US industrial cities have taken a beating. Have you ever been to Baltimore? From Philadelphia to Washington DC it’s basically a wasteland. |

They would love to be playing their home games in Hamilton.
I wouldn't mind seeing another team in Ontario. |

I don't know if he has the money for Transfer Fees. I think he is ridding all contracts to sell. |

And Eichel takes up 10 million so they have 60 million left!!! We are going to have to see some serious player movement for sure and teams will want to make deals as you have stated a few times with and eye on actual money vs. cap hit. This off season will be super busy for all teams.
I also think that JB has learned to use the media to set early parameters for future negotiations ( "Marky has earned the right to test free agency") Basically saying we won't be backed into a corner. and he has manged to get players signed to lower contracts than originally speculated(Boeser, Myers-I still don't love it but most expected him to be 7+) I feel like they will have to give the ELC's of Hoglander, OJ and even Lind fill out the lineup.

Or maybe they are ideal? $6M cap hit with only $2.5M/year owed in actual dollars for the last two years.
Serviceable, defensive vet who could play on the third line - pretty much exactly what that sieve of a team needs.
$70M budget with an official cap of $73.5M - looks a little better PR wise. Canucks should get their Ashley Schaeffer pants on and sell it |
