Can he?
Sandin cant play LD and RD on the third pairing for starters.
Secondly I want the best possible player to be in that 2PP role. Not giving it to a 19 year old by default...Not a recipe for success at all. - Santo_44
how many times have the leafs had guys come overseas and leave after 10 games? or stick around and be useless?
We will hopefully still acquire (trade or sign) 2 defence for the right side. With Holl, that side is full. Sandin showed he is capable of running the pp. |

I can't franking believe my money is going to pay to keep the Panthers afloat, when this is what Panthers fans can get:
https://www.groupon.com/d...ls/florida-panthers-03-03
What You'll Get
Click above for a $55 all-inclusive ticket for the Panthers vs the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. ($85 value). Buy here for Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 7 p.m. vs. the Buffalo Sabres.
Originally invented by bored henchmen looking to pass the time at Superman's secret Antarctic lair, hockey has since overtaken polo and unicycle jousting as America's favored pastime. Hop on the bandwagon with today’s Groupon: for $55, you get one ticket to your choice of two Panthers games at the team's home rink, the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise. From the links above, pick either Wednesday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. vs. the Philadelphia Flyers or Saturday, March 20, at 7 p.m. vs. the Buffalo Sabres. Your Groupon is only good on the night of the game you purchase, so make sure to buy from the correct link.
Seats will be in the Coach's Club Level (sections 428–430), which includes access to the Coach's Club, an $85 total value. You'll find out the exact location of your seat on game day. Purchasing multiple tickets in the same order will guarantee seats together; tickets purchased across separate orders will not. Inside the Coach's Club, you'll receive all the buffet-style bites you can eat and all the beer, wine, coffee, and soft drinks you can drink. This upscale experience is nearly 8,000 square feet of comfortable, lounge-style seating and attentive service. If you start feeling too far removed from the action, head back to your stadium seats at any time to get right back in the puck-flying mix.
Hockey is like the magnificent mutt of the sporting world. You get the suspense of watching an object swish through a net (like in basketball or soccer), the thrill of rambunctious brawls (boxing), the elegance of ice skating, and the utter brutality of golf, all combined in one action-packed event. Treat your entire family, favorite group of hockey hooligans, or squeamish dentist to a night of hard-hitting ice-capades.

$55 gets you a ticket, buffet and unlimited beer - on a franking Saturday night game!!!

That's a groupon from a decade ago.
I get your point though. Last I could find you could get season tickets in the nosebleeds for $7 per game. |

If he can’t, Lehtonen will. If Lehtonen can’t, somebody else will. They’re both under $1M. If we want to fill holes in a flat cap world either move one of the big 4 or promote cheap talent from within. |

same (frank)ing thing everyone says every single time.
Completely ignores when they bring in NHL players in Mikheyev and Zaitzev.

Sick of people thinking we can put all our hopes on a 19 year old. |

Without Barrie the Leafs will have a hole on the 2nd PP unit.
Leafs "need" cheap players that can outperform their contracts due to their cap situation.
Leafs "need" Lehtonen to be able to be an NHL player. He isn't the solution to the Rielly pairing and who cares. He is making under a M. - Santo_44
To be fair, even with Barrie they had a hole on the PP.
I agree the Leafs need cheaper contracts but hoping a guy takes a discount or a 30+ year old signing for league minimum, may not be the best solution.
Leafs "need" to get at least 2 RHD this offseason |

Except there may not be money for 2 if they are interested in other upgrades. Lehtonen specifically signed a one year, no bonus contract. He wants to play in the NHL. |

We've seen Sandin do it already and how people here complained when they put Marincin in over Sandin. He has been playing in North America for 3 years and is used to the smaller ice surface. Lehtonen might not be used to that and won't has as much time as he does overseas. |

Let's not kid ourselves.. As good as Lehtonen has been in Europe, he's been facing goalies that are equal to game 7 Freddie Andersen |

What other upgrades? I don't think they will spend more on their goalies if they move Freddie and to fill out the bottom 6 they are going to find cheap guys. Move out Johnsson and maybe Kerfoot, then you have plenty of space to add 2 guys. |

Sandin looked completely outmatched aside from a 7-8 game stretch.

The Leafs need to revamp their bottom 6.. I would like them to target guys like Jake Virtanen, Brandon Tanev, Wayne Simmonds. Also, they need to ice a competent shutdown line, so adding some other forwards that can play solid defensively, would be nice..
Kapanen couldn't play a shutdown role, so he's gone.. Johnsson is not a shutdown guy either, I think he should be moved as well. Kerfoot is solid defensively, but gets pushed off the puck rather easily at times |

Lehtonen has played pro hockey for 8 years.
No matter how you play it you can’t pencil either player in but they are both cheap contracts that will absolutely be in the conversation. |

I think if Rielly could implement the slap shot when on a PP, that would be really helpful. Barrie was a threat to shoot, Rielly isn't.. Hopefully, he can |

6 KHL teams play on North America sized rinks and 11 play on Finnish which are a hybrid. |
