So if you trade away Jake, and you don't care about his points are you good with missing the playoffs for the next two years?
That was the decision Hextall ultimately made when he traded B Schenn. If Hexy didn't get fired we would have not have been in the playoffs this year. AV and the moves Fletch made put them in the spot we are at, one win from ECF.
Trading Jake sets this team back if you don't replace him with quality players that can contribute right away. jakes quote is really pure gold...he is damned either way in many fans eyes...guys like him and his skill set and size are rare...not sure why most people don't see that. - JW98FlyerFan
Well I dont agree they will miss the playoffs if they trade Jake. Not sure why most dont see a change is needed. |

Here is the problem with Voracek's quote. He is wrong in my opinion in thinking that he can't produce well offensively if he plays well defensively. |

Could you please be more specific there?
Would you, at least, publish a list of players you propose would be good to replace Jake?
Please be mindful of his production, his role on the ice, and his chemistry with the team.

Most do see that change is needed. Some just don't agree with the change you want to make and why you want to make it. Why can't you see that?

Please go back and look at previous post as I explained it pretty clear.
A simple question for you. Does there ever come a time when a player and team need to separate? yes or no? |

Trade Voracek. Sign Hoffman. He can play either wing, and he'll want less money than Jake on his next contract. Then you can better address the other needs on the team through signing another FA. For example, Braun sucks. They need an upgrade on defense. |

The core needs a change. Not getting rid of 2 guys who were scratched isnt the only change needed. Why cant you see that? |

I didn't say anything about getting rid of two guys who were scratched. I don't agree that the core needs a change.

It's a skill set and mind set that need to be trained. Here is dilemma for you: would you rather have a player spend a lot of time and efforts on learning new skills in order to marginally mitigate their weaknesses or keep improving their strength? I.e. Shaq spending hours to be marginally better on free throws.
Jake needs to be at least OK on defense and excellent on offense in order to be net positive player. |

Start at the beginning. Generally speaking, what are they trading Voracek for?

I did not see any specifics in your posts.
To the second question the answer is yes, but it has to be done with a plan and not just for the sake of the change. |

Define well offensively. This year he would have had 60ish points and played a better defensive game, is that not exactly what he’s talking about? |

Yes, I have.
See post below from page 1:
Does there ever come a time when teams need to move on from players who have been here for a long time and they haven't really done much winning (regardless of the reason). Do players become stagnant despite putting up good individual numbers?
Or do you just keep riding it out hoping and praying something from within will change?
At what point after how many coaches do say maybe its time to move some players?

I'll just chalk it up to you not understanding what it mean to be asked to be more specific.

Why didn’t the capitals trade ovechkin and backstrom? |

I think Voracek needs to understand that playing well defensively leads to more offense, not less offense. His quote seems to indicate that he doesn't think he can produce well offensively if he improves and plays well defensively.

A puck moving defenseman, who can replace Gostisbehere. If you can get more than that, great. Trade Gostisbehere for a big, physical winger, or sign Tyler Toffoli. It won't be an easy job for Fletcher this offseason. He has some big decisions to make, and work to do. The team has a lot of promising, young talent, but several big holes in their lineup to fill. |
