If Danault refuses to sign an extension, then MB must trade him. If Domi does not want to play the wing, then MB should trade him as well. There are plenty of veteran third line centers available who can do the job. Maybe Poehling should be your 3C eventually. I also expect Nate Thompson to resign to play 4C. |

Hains: Domi or Danault?
According to what Elliot Friedman said on WGR550 today, the Habs are testing the waters on Philip Danault's value. - Karine Hains
Bonjour/Hi Karine,
I don't think the question is Domi or Danault. Like you indicated, Danault is a much better center, especially for 3rd line duties (and with 2 20 y/o playing 1 and 2).
Since Domi is set to play LW (in Mtl), I think the question is more Domi or Drouin? Now these 2 you can compare imo.
If it was up to me I'd trade them both!

So you’re not banking on the Drouin/Suzuki chemistry then?

I do think Sabres would be interested in Danault. Would a hockey trade of Marcus Johansson and a 2nd RD pick in 21 make sense. Both players will be UFA next year. |

I really don’t think MB would send him to a division rival tbh |

Johansson is older and less physical than Danault, is that what we want ?

and certainly not for a 3rd line LW |

Danault would look great supporting the defensive end of things next to McDavid |

But if you had to choose, Domi or Drouin.
I think you would have to keep Domi, no?

very close call.
why would I have to keep one?
Drouin is probably more talented, Domi brings more grit. but both are so inconsistent that it doesn't make any difference. |

Danault has more value to the Canadians at a 1, 2, or 3 center than Domi has as a winger (which he has indicated he does not want to play).
Seems like an easy decision to me. |

I’d prefer Danault For Winnipeg, but honestly I’d take either one. Hope there’s a deal with Winnipeg. |

If Danault is traded that would leave a top 9 C spot open for Domi, no? |
