Danault is a much much stronger counter offer to any team that Bergevin might approach about a sniper or solid LD that could impact the top 4 D corp of the Habs...in any event many decisions to be made as they approach draft day |

If Bergevin manages to get help at right wing, it will be easier to leave Danault with his current wingers, assuming he get an impact RW of course. If they keep Drouin he could play with suzuki and new RW, leaving KK with Armia and Lehkonen, the Finnish line has worked well at times. I kind of expect Domi to be packaged with Mete and sone picks for a shiny new RW. - Karine Hains

Whazzup, my people? Finally caught up on some back reading...
So, Domi or Danault? Neither, unless the deal is right. If I *had* to choose, I'd keep Danault, just because he's our must reliable faceoff man. KK or Suzuki aren't good enough yet to take over those defensive faceoff roles. If nothing else, you keep Danault for the extra year to teach the kids.
If Domi *has* to go, then we need to find that player with an edge to replace him, lest Gallagher or KK feel they need to take up that role, which we don't want. Unless we package Domi for a decent top six RW, I'd rather he go for
early picks and prospects, than a player who is on the bubble of whether he'd work or not.
Lines I'd like to see next year (top 9 in no order of importance):
Tatar-Danault-Gallager
Lehkonen-KK-Armia
Drouin-Suzuki-? (Kovalev, Caulfield, traded winger X?)
Byron-Evans-Poehing/Weal
Yes, I'd like to see the Finnish 3 Musketeers back together again. It puts more pressure on KK to use his shot. He has a wicked release, and when he plays with older finishers, he tends to try to defer the shots to them.
Thoughts? |

Mmm... if you like truculence talk, they're fine.
They're better when Marty Biron is on with them (Tuesdays and Thursdays usually). Sort of balances them out. - jcragcrumple
Rivet is more vocal. He has advocated for going after Alex Tuch, Josh Anderson, Dylan Stome, Sean Monahan, etc.
I think you have significantly misrepresented his position |

If anybody gives Danult more than 5mil they should be Tannered out of the NHL. |

5.5 would by my absolute maximum.
The guy is incredibly effective on a team and I believe can be an important piece moving forward.
But with the cap.... well existing, you can't invest that much in someone who's role should be a GREAT 3rd line centre on a good team.

Well someone gave Kevin Hayes 7.1mil so Danault is going to use that as a benchmark

He's at Wisconsin at the moment and they already started skating. I really doubt the situation will be any different a few months from now.
Hopefully Bergevin and Pat Brisson (Caufield's agent) already talked about this and there is a plan going forward. |

Sure, as he should.
But aside from Philadelphia, did anyone really thought giving Hayes 7.1M was smart?

Of course there's a plan.
Plan A: Stay in the NCAA.
Plan B: If NCAA doesn't play, sign with Habs, play in AHL.
Plan C: Move to Europe and play over there.
Plan D: Go play in the OHL.
Plan E: Enter midget contest.

At his age and talent, he can't waste a year playing on and off in the NCAA because of a pandemic. |
