Fun argument question...
Would you do Matthews for Provorov + Hart?
I expect no Philadelphia fan would even consider this. I would do it immediately from a Leafs perspective, so I would have to say I agree with them.
As a Leafs fan, would you do it? - Aetherial
I have to think hard on this one before saying no. Tavares has limited years left and once he's done as a top guy then we will be scrambling for a top center again. Provorov is great but I don't think it's a fit.

CAn we stop trying to trade our young superstars? Hunter should have picked Hart but passed.

Leafs can take big time advantage of this. A "Flat Cap" becomes irrelevant if 3 quarters of NHL are severely slashing their budgets. Most teams will have a 70 cap max. - RogerRoeper
What does this even mean Roger ??
And, if you are referring to a $70 cap.. how would you possibly know this? |

Bruins owner said they might have to be a budget team....
Be happy you are a leaf fan right now with folks, could get ugly for some teams. - Santo_44
He's always been very cheap.
But yeah, Leafs are actually in a great spot despite no one realizing. Majority of people seem to think every team will repeat the same budget as last year.
"Flat Cap" hysteria is funny. It's irrelevant |

Majority of NHL are slashing their budgets. Even teams like Boston and Pttsburgh are repotedly doing it.
THere are 3-5 teams that can afford a 81.5 cap and that's about it.

We have enough reports and quotes from owners to know it's just going to get worse and worse. WE know NHL by far relies more on gate revenue than MLB, NFL or NBA.

TRade Andersen for a 2nd rounder, trade for Kuemper. *if* Pietrangelo signs in St.Louis, trade for Colton Paryko. As a backup, make a pitch to Florida to get Ekblad. Offer the 1st rounder, Lilljegren or even Sandin if you have to. Sign Spezza and Simmons. Trade jonsson. Trade for Hossa and Kesler for LTIR |

Yes. That's what we know.
Stick to that.
Not the "according to my calculations, the florida panthers will have a 62M cap next season if the owner doesn't want to sell some of his investment in real estate" bullpoop.

I did not say 62 million, but Florida guaranteed are cutting budget.

I don't want to. But it's time to go for it. I don't think they have to move SAndin anyways.
I am not a fan of signing Pietrangelo. Trade for a RH D |
