Skinner, 26, is coming off a subpar season by his standards. His 24 goals and 49 points were his fewest since the 2014-15 season, and his minus-27 rating was a career low. But he played in all 82 games and has 379 career points in 579 career games.
The 2011 Calder Trophy winner as the league’s top rookie, Skinner is due to make $6 million this upcoming season then hit the open market. The Hurricanes confirmed in May that they had discussed Skinner in trade talks with other teams, and the Chicago Blackhawks reportedly checked in on the possibility of trading for Skinner last month.
“With Jeff becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer, this was the right time for us to move on, and to provide Jeff with a fresh start in Buffalo,” Carolina general manager Don Waddell told the media. “We talked to every team in the league over the past four months, and ultimately the Sabres were the team that provided us with the best value in return, including three picks and a prospect we like in Cliff Pu.”
He was looking to make money in his next contract don't you think he would have gone to a team that would help him do that instead of just life near home for a year? Do you think he saw Buffalo as the only team that would or could do that? If they talked to every team in the league they must have really wanted to ditch him and and also had some info from him and his agent to try to get a deal done. - GilPerreault11
Do you think Brindamour is going to admit they got fleeced because Skinner nixed other trades?
Based on this logic, you must truly believe Botterill got the best deal possible for ROR, correct? ONLY St. Louis wanted him |

Again, you see here that Reinhart had a higher rate of points per 60 minutes away from Eichel’s wing in three of the five years. However, overall for his career, he has produced at a higher rate with Eichel than without him.
Over the length of his career, Reinhart has spent 52% of his time at 5 on 5 playing on Eichel’s wing. The interesting part is that over the last two seasons his ice time with him has grown significantly. |

No, the 400 games is the reason to sign him. The 44 just prove he can produce without Jack as well. |

He’s really good.
But defence doesn’t matter and nobody will recognize the true impact of what he brings because he doesn’t get enough points. |

Shouldn't toss a massive contract at a player That only works with one player..
And hes a 40- 50 point player with jack and has never scored past 25 goals and is going to get paid 7m + think about it |

Do you think teams' waste their time calling 29 teams trying to deal a guy if they know 28 of them will be nixed? Would a GM say he called every team if he didn't instead of just saying we have been working on moving Jeff for the last few months and have spoken to teams and the Sabres were the best deal. The other teams talk too.
Would a player coming off a bad year say I am only going to Buffalo to get my career contract when they are an annual loser? Wouldn't he look at Reinhart who played next to Jack who couldn't get his big contract leading up to that trade and had to sign a show me contract and say playing next to Jack is no guarantee?
I have no idea about ROR but they may have been the only one willing to eat the 7 million and give JB what he thought he wanted. I heard Montreal wanted him.
