Soccer czar disagrees. Skinner shall never play with jack. It’s in some soccer rule book I guess. |

If the deal is pending who is available at 8 after the first 7 picks are made, would you still do it if Rossi was available at 8?
I'm not sure I would. - kingcong39
Me neither. I think it’s wishful thinking Rossi makes it to 8. I would be over the moon though.
It would be total Buffalo for Rossi to fall to 8 and for us to still not take him, I would need a new TV if that happens |

Already did.
A. I don't deny the decline
B. The team as a whole declined.
C. He's still, quote, a very good player.

I’d hate to give up 8th OA for Monahan.
However if we can acquire him with a combination of other assets I wouldn’t mind it.
The trade proposal that started the Giordano talk was:
Montour, mojo, Mitts, 2021 first.
Monahan and Giordano - Pegullaville
Trade for Matt Tkachuk instead
Then trade Eichel for Brady & their 3 first round picks
Gives us 3 picks in the top10
Then draft some centers & goal scorers,
and I’d like Askarov too |

We should stop thinking about blockbuster trades because it’s apparent this team will make none.
They’ll move Montour for a middle six player and sign a bottom
6 player and that’s it. |

Honestly I am not expecting a thing.
I think with the internal budget were going to have more of the same as an on ice product next season |

I worry you're right. I can't see a $72M team competing for anything. Just another lottery year. |

I think tkchak the 3 and 5 would make us. Better team than just keeping Eichel imo but others will disagree. |

Should've prefaced, with OUR* 72m team lol
There's some competitive teams with internal caps, but not many with $6M 4th liners... |

Ahhh, get it. Misread.
I was surprised to hear Dallas only spent 76M last season and San Jose 72M. Need some good players on ELCs and to not overpay for middle6 scoring.

Having players on ELC is mandatory in the normal world.
Will be even more so with the internal cap.
That’s why I believe keeping the pick is important.
First of all we should get a really good forward prospect this year at 8 that would otherwise go in the top 5 in the past few drafts.
Second of all that player will most likely be able to contribute, even if it’s a depth role, as early as the 2021-2022 season if not sooner depending on when we start the 2020-2021 NHL season.
Adams should be able to swing some deals to make us competitive for our one year run here to make the playoffs to keep Jack happy. Hopefully Cozens and this years pick hit their potential and we become downright dangerous for the rest of the decade. |

It's a good argument for keeping it for sure. I go back and forth daily it seems.
Question though: if the choice was dealing 8 OR making the playoffs, which do you pick? In other words, if Monahan got us over the hump, but it cost 8, without him we're sunk, do you pull the trigger? |

At this point? Yeah.
Here’s the last few days/week of reports
-Budget team in low 70’s
- Ristolainen is staying.
If you are hopeful that Mittelstadt is used as a chip to get a player, I wouldn’t get your hopes up because he will be very cheap to have on the roster
So I’ll expect Montour to go, Reinhart to sign a very short term deal and almost nothing changes |

Then plan the Eichel trade at the deadline or next offseason? |
