Adding Haula or Soderberg would solidify the center depth and allow cozens to enter at wing and play center should the need arise. Mittelstadt will never be a checking 3C and i wouldn't want Cozens to be automatically given that spot.
Supposedly the Sabres are linked to Haula. That would be a good add. Wouldnt cost much and would provide the coverage for Cozens that Botterill should have given Mittelstadt - jcragcrumple
Or we just start playing our future 2C at Center right away
I really don’t see the harm in that
Starting him in the wing would be ok too,
but we now need at least 1 RW, 1 LD,
and hopefully an upgrade on Hutton
BEFORE
we need another Center
And if we are having an internal cap in the low70s
Then 3C should t even be thought about right now
It was never about long term for me. It was about getting someone talented enough to play second line center to bridge to Cozens. Staal checks that box for me.
That wasn't a 180 either. I've liked that idea since I heard it from Pham a month ago. - jcragcrumple
To bridge Cozens from RW to 2C though?
Doesn’t make much sense to me
You guys wanting Kessel....no you don’t. I lived in Pitt for 5 years and watched a lot of him. He is the same hotdog eating lazy goal scoring winger he always has been. Not a buffalo guy. You don’t want him or his paycheck. - Bufsaints8

The final year of his contract, in 21-22, he'll be owed a $5M salary bonus and then his salary for the season will be $1M.
How much is his salary for the 20-21 season after Arizona paid his $5M salary bonus? Yup, $1M.
If they just want to dump his contract, he make sense in terms of his $1M salary this year versus his cap hit. - kingcong39
If skinner was in Ralph’s dog house for his lackadaisical practice habits.... where do you think Phil would be? Dude wouldn’t even warm up before a game, just lean on the boards and talk to a coach. Talk about defensively responsible! Gggeeezzz. Phil would love Teds though. If he gets moved, it’ll be to a warm weather team so he can golf. Finally, Adams has said he’s looking to fit the right pieces together to make a team. Phil checks zero of those boxes.
I'm having trouble reconciling the following, as Ehlers is a markedly better player than Dumba.
The Wild would need to add to Dumba to possibly get Ehlers out of Winnipeg.
If Winnipeg would take Dumba straight up for Ehlers, I hope Adams is bombarding Winnipeg with phone calls trying to get Ehlers for Montour or Ristolainen.
Toronto and Winnipeg are among the teams with needs at the top-4, RHD position and my understanding is the Jets have a genuine interest. Problem is, not only do the Jets not have a top-six center to trade, they’re looking for one themselves this offseason.
Is there another way for Winnipeg to entice Minnesota? Could the Wild live with winger Nikolaj Ehlers in return, a player who happens to have the exact same cap hit, $6 million, as Dumba?

I'm only pointing out a scenario where trading for Kessel would make sense.
Huge goal, especially after the ugly looking collision he had.
Overall, that's his 2nd goal in 18 playoff games. He also has 3 assists while playing 20 minutes a night.
I still don't believe he's going to put up as many points as many seem to think. - kingcong39
Maybe he tops out at 50 points, if that’s the case I still believe he’d be one of the best 2C’s in hockey.
Defends with the best of them and controls possession. When Cirelli is on the ice, you’re in the offensive zone generating opportunities and not giving much up.

You mean, cents, because outside of the monetary aspect of his contract, from a hockey standpoint, he makes zero cents.
Edit: I would take the one armed josh anderson as an rfa over the hotdog 10 times out of 10.
Also, I am really curious what rfa and ufa contracts look like. Where are the falling dominos? With all this tight money talk and internal budgets (not only from buffalo). What do those rfa and ufa deals look like?
Do we see a lot of 1-2 year deals with minimal increase? That’s going shape a lot of the story this offseason.
