granted we haven't seen him play... but as a first trade for GMKA i am impressed with what he got.. JB looked for a 2C for how long and never got one.. KA does it in his first trade

Bills are going to lose ...... to the Dolphins
- Sabretooth9

No they won't but thanks for you in-depth analysis- the Bills have a lot more talent than Miami and Miami has some troublesome injuries too. Buffalo is ridiculously strong on DL and DB and will design a D to protect the 2 new LBers

was he the 1C in Minny? If so and he still put up solid numbers i can imagine he should match that as the 2C with Jack taking all the hard matchups even with getting older.. unless they cut his time which i doubt
- SabresFaninIndiana

Yep - Buffalo will play him at 2C of course, probably will skinner. He'll center the 2nd line PP unit. His other winger is the ??. Middlestadt or Cozens would be interesting.

Curious on everyone’s thoughts on potential unprotected players and the expansion draft. Sign, trade, leave unprotected. I’d say the 2 main targets for Seattle are Montour and Girgs
- lulags

I'd say Borgen and Asplund.

Even then Eric probably isn’t taking the trade as hard as you are.

I’m just not impressed one bit until this franchise cares about winning instead of optics or saving money.

Staal is a fine add for one season in which the Pegula’s have put restrictions on what the GM can do

Pretty much. He’s not happy.

He was traded here 48 hours ago and said he doesn’t know much about the Sabres besides Jack being elite and his former teammate Skinner.

I look forward to him riding out this year

December is a few months and two teams are still playing hockey. Haven’t even had the draft or free agency yet.

We used to agree on most things beside Skinner, I think you’re letting your emotions cause overreactions a little to early here

It’s a start. It’s a center. That’s good.

given the last 9 years, I think every sabres fan has every right to be pissed, vent and annoyed at what they have seen, and been told they would see

Well this new administration has been here for a short period of time and I’m taking the fact we traded a 3rd line winger for a 2C/3C as a positive.

I’ll also refrain from throwing a tantrum until it’s opening day night and I see what the roster looks like.

The trade saved money, and put a bandaid on the 2C spot.

Go get another legit center who isn’t here for one year and I’ll like it even more

The pain is in the rear view mirror now for your Bills though isn’t it ?

I’m sure that was the same feeling during their drought.

I’m aware of the reports, I know we may not spend to the cap, doesn’t mean we can’t make dollar out and dollar in transactions that put this team into the playoffs next year

I listened to the instigators interview and watched his zoom interview and he absolutely didn't say any of this. He was shocked (he said this) and probably not thrilled (he didn't say that), but he's very much a professional and said nothing bad. He actually had plenty of good things to say about Kevyn, Ralph, Skinner and Buffalo in general.

Mikko Koivu would be another interesting name if he decides to keep playing.

Still very good in his own end just doesn’t offer much at all offensively at this point.

- Pegullaville

He looks like nothing more than an aging (turning 38 in March), perhaps injury prone, 4th line Center at this point?

He produces next to nothing offensively, is not as good defensively as Larsson, and is trending in the wrong direction.

I think you’re right. I would have liked to have seen him one more year. He was electric in Anaheim. I’d prefer to keep Risto over him though. We lack team toughness and Risto brings it. I feel like he is just starting to show his potential
- lulags

How long will it take Ristolainen to actually show his full potential? 8 seasons? 9? With all the minutes he's played already?

I think we've already seen what he is and know it well.

He said his family will adapt and they were very comfortable in their current situation.

He’s not happy. I personally don’t care if he is. It’s whatever.

I care that he very well could retire or find himself on IR halfway through this season if things aren’t going well and like Buffalo Sabre magic, have Casey Mittelstadt or another 19 years old at 2C.

the sabres have not looked promising for 8 years other then a few hot starts in 2 of those years

15 years ago, sabres was must watch hockey

now, honestly for me it's an afterthought

I use to plan my social life based on when the sabres played, now I don't

pretty sure there is a lot of people like me out there
