No one seems aware of the really mediocre D that are still in the playoffs. Jamie Oleksiak avg almost 22 minutes a night for Dallas. Oh my! - RogerRoeper
I'd take Oleksiak over Holl every day of the week. Easily.
If anything, I think this is the time leafs should take advantage. They can put in signing bonuses and get guys under value. Generally in free agency, you're overpaying. I think they can get them either fair or below value. - matt1337
signing bonuses are still subject to escrow. and escrows bigger in years 1 and 2 so players may want to differ $$.
You can laugh all you want, but Muzzin is quite overrated and really slow. Oleksiak skates well for a big guy and is a good 2way guy , and -more importantly - a perfect complementing player to Heiskanen.
Rielly would benefit from being paired with Oleksiak - it's been clear Rielly isn't helped by putting Muzzin on his side. - MaximusAurelius
He completely lacks the skills and offensive totals to be called that.
So happy medium is Holl playing 3rd pair, right where he should be. I just think the leafs have the opportunity to upgrade over Holl this year and they should take.
It all comes down to injuries. If Rielly's partner goes down with an injury, Holl is our best RD. That should never be the case. If Holl plays 3rd pairing, we have 2 capable RD in front of him, and if there is an injury, he is more than capable of filling in until they come back. - matt1337
They need to keep Holl. Last thing the need is to dump a quality RH D.

I know Marincin is bad, but that’s unfair to him.
Spicy P was obviously a flash in the pan.
Raps are left with Stinky P. - Byfuglien Ate Me
Boston was simply a much better team in Game 7. Spicy P is no replacement for Kawhi, not even close. His shooting and giveaways were brutal. Lowry defended well, his offense was not great. There will be hope next season if Ujiri convinces Antetokounmpo to sign with the Raps.
Every off-season there is some sort of nutty debate that takes hold in this thread, which is fine. But I gotta say that I never would have guessed that this year it would be about Justin Holl. JUSTIN HOLL!!

The debate is Marner or Nylander, I think moving Marner gets a much better return and therefore making the team much better, not to mention the cap space that can could be used to also upgrade the team.

I think they only consider moving one of those guys if they get Pietrangelo. I still think they go with credible guy to play with Rielly, somebody with a price tag like Brodie which they can handle with a move like a Johnnson trade.
I don’t see anything that convinces me that Dubas doesn’t still believes in the make up of the team. He’ll try to fix some problems but if he goes down he’s going to go down his way.

3:27 Hold my beer.
-Prince - Aetherial
Always loved this version of the song, I did try my best to attend. Harrison wrote some great songs. Prince did a fine job and was under rated as a guitarist. He's #33 on the Rolling Stones top 100.

There is no debate as Marner will never be traded.

It's an interesting debate.
Nylander might fetch a better return due to contract.

Makes sense, since he's a lot better than Holl. - GreatGigInTheSky
Historically, Oleksiak has played limited minutes. He's been thrust into a much larger role this playoff and has been playing his best hockey.
Then again, the entire Dallas Stars squad has elevated their hockey this playoff and may actually hoist the Cup, Benn, for example, is having a renaissance.
