Guitar dudes...I have a poopty electric and amp, and I know like six chords, a blues scale and how to do E bar chords. What's the best resource to learn how to play. I like to rock and roll, I'm a punk rocker and I like reggae.

Happens when the other teams d give very little time or chances. We’ve given up so many ore shots against then a team like the Bruins over the last few years...it’s time for the Leafs to build from the net out.

Lol oh hell no. Myers now projects to be the top pairing defenseman with Provorov when Niskanen moves on. He’s already better than Niskanen. Guy looks to be a bonafide top 2 sooner than later. Top 2s go for more than 3rd liners. Hell, even top 4s go for more for 3rd liners.

I understand that most of the league doesn’t realize this. He never had hype until after the draft, well, because he was never drafted! The guy flew up the ranks and blew away everyone in his path. Hard worker. Myers is a harder get than Sanheim, and Sanheim won’t be easy. Myers may not quite be the defenseman Sanheim is yet, but he could be, and playing RHD tacks on a little value when looking at their club. Both of them are silky smooth and compliment each other tremendously as a pairing.

But that’s moot. Kapanen went back to the Yinzers. Shame. I liked him. Now he’s with those Pennsylvanians.

And the 1st offer was made by me, and on your thread. I’ve since rescinded. Although value wise it’s probably not all that far apart, it was offered up during a severe lack of scoring in the playoffs when I was frustrated. There’s really no reason to get rid of quality defensemen to make way for a scoring need that can be filled without doing so.

He certainly has more value than Kapanen.

I tend not to overvalue my team. If anything, I’m told the opposite. But Phil Myers is a pretty special kid right now.

You don’t have to take my word on it, though. You can read any of the articles written on him. I mean any at all. There isn’t a single one that isn’t glowing.

Toss in scouting reports over the past 3-4 years while you’re at it.

I take lessons with a guy who’s become a good buddy. Online stuff is hit and miss. If you’re looking for specific songs I grab stuff from Jerry’s Guitar Bar. You get downloaded video, sheet music and tab. The songs tend to be more folk rock but there’s CCR, Allman, etc. There’s a range of beginner, etc.

But if you can find someone to give you lessons, best way.

Jorma's camps in Ohio are amazing but pricey. This guy was an absolute electric guitar hero, but his lessons are mostly acoustic. The online lessons are very good and not expensive at all, considering the teachers.

Absolutely, I'm a hack, I've had other teachers, but he's by far the best. Just imagine learning from a player of this caliber who is an excellent teacher and communicator and a quality person as well.

It's actually a bit ironic that in a sport where size really matters on defense Myers was undrafted, Parayko and Chara drafted in the third round. It's also interesting that Myers and Martin St. Louis were both cut by the Flames after they went undrafted.

1st song I ever learned was of course the one everyone learns 1st:
Smoke on the water. From the great Deep Purple....D4 F4 G4 and then just went from there.

10 when I first learned to strum the crappy guitar I got for Christmas.. and then 12 when I finally learned Smoke on the water...

I orginally started on piano, my grandmother who was a very good concert pianist taught me an appreciation for great music, she loved Mozart, I loved Beethoven. The appreciation for music was far more important than the lessons as I completed Grade 10 at the Royal Conservatory by age 18. Any type of practicing will help, I found lessons to be helpful to eliminate bad techniques and bad habits, especially on guitar. The Beatles were excellent musicians, it didn't hurt them that while they were in Germany, they would typically play 3 sets of two or more hours a night,

One of the things beginning musicians fail to realize is that they're trying to learn two things at once: 1. Music theory and 2. the instrument they're trying to play.
Spend some time on basic music theory (I.e I, IV, V, minor and major pentatonic, e t c...). There are tons of YouTube videos on basic music theory as well as basic guitar playing. Find a website you like.

Regarding your rig, a cheap guitar through a nice amp sounds way better than an expensive guitar through a cheap amp. My Squire tele and Strat through my 5e3 Clone turns heads every time I Crank It Up. Doesn't have to be an expensive tube amp, and I wouldn't recommend more than 15 watts. Get a nice amp and you'll be much happier with it. As a result, You'll Play More

I recently learned how to play ramble on, the right way. Took me a solid month to get it to the point where I liked it. I've been playing since I was 10. I'm 53 now. So yes, some of the stuff can be advanced. I wasted so much time in my youth trying to play Randy Rhoads and Van Halen. If only I could have those hours back. I'll never play some of that stuff.
