Whatever it is, sharing something you both dig is great. Im lucky that me and my kid both loved the same music so when this festival came up he talked me into and I won’t ever forget it until dementia next year.

See I'm 56 with 7 kids and whenever the kids or 12 grand kids want to take me anywhere we go... Don't let this run your life.. It goes by in the blink of an eye. I've flown back east at least 8 or 9 times since March It's a little bit of a pain but nothing earth shattering...

Grab your old man and split on the down low... you guys will be fine .. and have the time of your lives doing it.. Moms will get over it..

Good advice.

I’m going to bounce this plan off him this evening. Will make for a interesting Sunday catch up.

If Florida is looking to cut costs, its unlikely they want salary back. Maybe Nylander but not Johnsson I would think. They might want prospects or pick to round out a deal because Nylander would not be enough for Ekblad. In addition if they want to dump salary, Stralman would be a candidate much more than Ekblad
- winsix

More than enough. Let's stop overrating Ekblad.

And no one wants STralman.

Whether Nylander is too much or not enough, I worry about his head and I am reluctant to move Nylander unless it’s for somebody who is worth way more than we’d ever get for Nylander.

I still put a lot of value on having the top four forwards and having two really good scoring lines. (I know they didn’t play that way against CBJ but practically nobody on the team did.)

I’m happy to get a really solid, credible guy to play with Rielly, whoever we can get without having to trade Marner or Nylander.

Excellent post and I agree completely. Like the top four forward group.

There are ways to improve the D without moving the top 4. Kapanen trade, AJ, trade and possible others buy flexibility. The overall D improve by replacing Barrie and Ceci

yeah, for sure there's a theoretical chance they'll do just that
gonna take a lot of perfect wheeling and dealing though...

Guitar solo of the week. This from one of the most under rated guitarists there is. It's hard to imagine a Beatle being under appreciated but have an honest listen to the slide guitar work on this relatively unknown single at the end of the Wilbury period. Recorded live on tour in Japan in 1990 - 12 dates that he did with Clapton and showcased George. This song was used in the soundtrack of Leathal Weapon II

Not that hard at all unless you’re talking about Pietrangelo which would be tough, doable but always a bit of a pipe dream in my mind.

No magic required to grab any one of a number of guys who will likely be available in the $5M range who would be a credible guy to play with Rielly. Everyone has their favourite so I’m not going to start that debate but someone like Brodie or maybe a bit of an upgrade.

Moving Johnnson is a good start to the wheeling and dealing needed to pay for a guy like that.

I agree....or almost...think Nylander is the odd man out to do it right.

I think we could fix all of our issues through free agency and then trade away a few forwards for CAP and picks/prospects that we definitely need.

I'm going to put some effort into this so I can sidetrack the #oldmanguitarbuzz convo.

Trade for picks/prospects or just CAP/contract 50:
Johnsson, Petan, Malgin, Dermott, Rosen, Marincin.....and if replaceable...Andersen.

Let walk:
Barrie, Ceci, Clifford, Rodrigues (just don't qualify)

Re-sign:
Spezza

Trade for RHD and CAP:
Nylander

Then we have ~$23M in CAP space and our line up looks like this:

Hyman, Matthews, ???
Micheyev, Tavares, Marner
Robertson, Kerfoot, ???
Engvall, Spezza, ???

Rielly, ???
Muzzin, ???
Sandin, ???
Holl

???
Campbell

JUST USING UFAs and Nylander Trade:

Nylander to CBJ for Savard, rights to Josh Anderson and Korpisalo

Hyman, Matthews, Anderson ($2Mx2 bridge)
Micheyev, Tavares, Marner
Robertson, Kerfoot, Perry ($2M show me)
Engvall, Spezza ($1M), Simmonds ($2M show me)

Rielly, Savard ($4M) (will need an extension after '21)
Muzzin, Demelo ($2M)
Sandin, Gudas ($2.5M)
Holl

Korpisalo ($3M Bridge/show me)
Campbell

Picks or prospects for Andersen, Johnsson and Dermott.

That line up is way more balanced, heavy and works with the CAP

...also leaves us with ~$5M for depth guys and at least 3 more picks in 2020 to start to replenish our prospect pool.

I’m less convinced that we have to remake the team and go heavy up and down the lineup. And I’m sure that Dubas and Shanny aren’t ready to start over so I must be be right.

Sure they can bring in some guys who help in that regard but I n general I don’t want to give up skill for pounds.

I don’t have a strong view as to whether it’s Savard or some other guy who plays with Rielly. I won’t pretend I watched enough to argue one over another but $4 or 5M sounds about right. I do think they save $1.5M by playing Lehtonen over Gudas though. I get the sense they really like him and the he fits THEIR style of good vision, puck mover, etc.

I’m scared of Simmonds, heard too many times that he’s lost too many steps and a slow power forward is a sad thing. Perry I’m cool with and again I think we can make these moves without trading Nylander so no to Anderson.

I was told no math.

It seems like a lot of moves but really only Johnsson, Nylander, Dermott and Andersen are the players that matter....all the other dudes are small crap players that I suggest replacing with heavy guys like Perry and Simmonds.

If we had Savard and Demelo, I guess I wouldn't feel too bad about Gudas/Lehtonen idea...but kinda where we always get in trouble is on the European unproven guys. I just want to win for a change and that usually means knowing what the team is getting.

Split time for the start of the season with

Rielly, Savard
Muzzin, Demelo
Sandin, Gudas
Lehtonen, Holl

...and move them around to see what works before we get to a playoff round.

Simmonds hasn't lost a step to be worse than Engvall or the Goat. Perry the same. But Toronto boys and both of those guys wreak havoc in front of the net and for a perimeter team that has been shut out by a zamboni drive because they don't usually get in there and mix it up, both much needed additions IMO.

(I know Wille scores from there a lot but they're mostly drive bys and that doesn't work with certain teams, obviously CBJ, Bos, Car... We need guys to go in there and make space the hard way.)

Edit: plus watching the playoffs, our team is too soft...at least 2 forwards and 2 Dmen to0 soft. Again just my opinion.

Anyway, except for Willie and Simmonds I pretty much agree. willie does score from in front of the net and I think he gives two awesome offensive lines. Sub out Willie for Anderson which sets you back $5, then save some by using Lehtonen at under $1 for one off the D and someone cheaper than Simmonds.

Also, Raised by Wolves is a Great Show. Opening song is cool as hell

This doesn't seem good

Ontario’s hospitals are sounding the alarm about rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the province, warning that a spike could force new lockdowns within weeks.

The heads of both the Ontario Hospital Association and the University Health Network, a cluster of Toronto hospitals, spoke out on the weekend about the danger unless people start taking better care. Their warnings came as the province reported its third straight day with more than 200 new COVID-19 cases.

“If growth continues exponentially … we could easily be facing a situation in just a few weeks where the government may have to contemplate measures that no one would want to see it contemplate again,” Ontario Hospital Association president Anthony Dale said in an interview.
