Leafs give up 50+ shots a game - Pacificgem
They are getting Pietrangelo. Burke says Leafs have best GM so it has to be true and he will fix it. |

They should save the money to sign Pettersson & Hughes next season. - Marwood
Cap savings don't carry over to another season. |

He does need to get out of there. I followed the highlights this morning he was having a strong game. Driving the net , rushed that started from his own end.
Even CanucksAbby fan asked WTF is with this coach.
He wasn't on for any goals against . Strong on the puck. He probably yelled at the coach for lack of ice time.
They do need to get him here.

Can anyone here please explain why they think Markstrom would sign a contract where he literally has no say in where he might be playing beyond a few months?
Either, A) to be shipped out by the Canucks at the TDL to who knows where so they don't lose him to Seattle, or b) Willingly put up in the expansion draft to be taken by Seattle or c) Maybe ends up staying in Vancouver if Seattle doesn't select him or the Nucks choose to trade Demko
Who, as a FA would sign up for that kind of uncertainty? - TheGame316
Middle load contract with 2yr movement penalty of balloon payment. Will deter expansion or trades and allow Demko to be protected in expansion draft.

I see it differently. He took over a super old team - not a team like Boston who had stars in their twenties or TO who had a younger supporting cast to support their young draft picks - and made the playoffs his first year with some adept moves.
In support of the Sedins, he certainly made some mistakes trying to extend the team’s chance to win but at the same time he added a strong stable of young talent (including two superstars).
Given the team’s position when he took over, they only missed the playoffs four years in a row and are now on the way up. How many GMs can say they have done the same?
People will counter with “the cap” but those same people assume Petey and Hughes are getting $10M on their next deals when I expect the total will be closer to the $7 - 8M range (3 year deals comparable to Aho/Rantanen 5/6 year deals factoring in COVID). They have to be careful with Petey b/c he can accept an offer sheet but Hughes is like Brock and does not have arb or offer sheet rights.
They will resign their young guys, let the “character” vet deals expire and add in Benning’s draft picks to be mentored by the new leaders in Bo, Petey, etc. - CoolerHeads
Lol,
Petey will get more then Nylander dude.... think between Marner and Matthew's type money. Maybe 8 on a 3 year deal
Hughes is already to 5 d in points... as a rookie, long term deal, he's getting north of 9 million on any deal longer then 4 years

Thomas Chabot got 8 million per year, for eight years, after a 55 point second season, Quinn Hughes did it in his first season. I could see 8-9 million a year easily. |

Already gave up a first and a second for Miller and Toffoli. Boeser is an important part of the top six, need to find a puck mover without giving him up. |

That just creates another problem, doesn’t really move the team ahead. Baertschi and Sutter will be off the books and I think both Beagle and Roussel will be as well when the kids are due. Hopefully not an issue.
The issue is the upcoming season if they want to keep pressing forward and build on the strides they made this season. |

Ray doesn’t dump on the Canucks, he’s paid to give an informed opinion, which he does. If people don’t like what he says he’s anti Canuck, which is horsepoop, he’s also said a lot of positive things about what’s happening in Vancouver with the kids. - Pacificgem

We will find out in the next four weeks but from all indication that I have heard is they have a plan .
I do know one thing for sure is no matter what they do , people will be in here complaining.
