ok so we would have Koivu + return for Danault + return for Domi? I thought Koivu was part of that return... - Pat1993
No, no Pat... Koivu is UFA!
And I'm only considering this (and maybe not Koivu exactly) if Domi and Danault ask for too much or give the impression they don't wanna stay in whatever role is given to them |

I'd be surprised if both of them left... I get the feeling if one of them is traded it'll be Domi, as they can surely find a role on the team for Danault that will make everyone happy

Great couple of reads these past few days, Karine! Glad you're one of us... You know, the good ones.
Re: Edmundston - I'm guessing he'll get a 2-3 year deal between 3-5M, if he signs. A contract that says, "Show me what you got.". Yeah, we gave up a 5th. Big deal. We have picks to spare. We possibly avoid seeing his demands go up on the open market. It's a low risk, potentially high reward deal. Shrewd move, assuming it works. Maybe even Danault level shrewd. Time will tell.
I would also like to throw my vote in for Peanut as ref. We all know his schtick, but he's a die hard HB'er who won't put up with crap. I think he'd potentially have A GREAT RUN as ref. Just my opinion. |

Friedman seems to think Danault is getting dealt... but who knows.... I think Domi will be traded and Danault will stay too |

Plot twist:
Habs trade away Danault and his crazy demands in a package for a good RW and keep Domi on a 1 year, 4.5M contract. BUT instead of Domi playing as third line centre, a transformed Ryan Poehling surprises everyone at camp and takes the spot. Moving Domi back to the wing.
After an unimpressive start to the season, he his traded away as well. |

A bit early for the drugs, isn't it? Nah, just kidding. Never too early. Little dust on the gums after brushing gets the day started off right! |

Evans has a better chance at snatching up that spot over Poehling right now

Evans is gonna be on the team as the fourth line centre. No doubt in my mind.
It would obviously be a surprise to see Poehling start in Montreal, let alone as a 3rd line centre.
I'm just having fun.

depending on how good that RW is I don't totally mind this scenario, but trading Domi after an unimpressive start would also surely mean a less significant return for him

He struggled this year. The step from college hockey to the NHL is a big one. He should have stayed in the AHL this season, but the injuries to both the Canadiens and the Rocket forced him into the NHL and he wasn't ready. |

I hope Poehling at least got the message with his training break after having a "big season" loll

Yea man.... Evans might play his way off C all together, or off the 4th line more accurately, could very well end up a RW |

Well he was projected as a third line centre down the line.
His first pro year, despite difficulties, shouldn't change that projection. Not yet at least.

Unlike Lefebvre. I have full confidence in Bouchard's ability to help players improve.

yeah I also feel Joel is doing a much better job. I liked his reaction concerning Poehling's training when he said the media were turning this into a much bigger story than it really is |
